Twitching/rapid thumping feeling - uterine twitches?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a twitchy feeling in their bump. I am in the third trimester and twice now I’ve felt really fast movements, similar to an eyelid twitching or a rabbit thumping its back legs. I can’t see how it’s baby as it’s far too fast for them to be kicking. It lasts for about 5 seconds and it’s something I can feel when I put my hand on the area. Not sure whether it could be something to do with nerves in the uterus or a twitch? Can’t find much online as it’s hard to describe what it is! I just hope baby is okay. I have a midwife appointment next week so will run it pass her too then!

I am 32 weeks and have also experienced this a couple of times recently. Have no idea what it is but hopefully someone else will be able to let us know!

Oh I’m glad i’m not the only one! Is yours like a very fast tapping sensation?

@rose19rose I'm 39 weeks and had this a few times.. feels like the baby has hiccups! Not sure if that's what it is but similar sensation 😅

Yes, when I’ve searched it, hiccups has come up! However it feels a little to quick to be hiccups, I would’ve thought they’d be more spread out? Where as this is like lots of kicks/thumps in the space of 5 seconds. But I’ve never felt her hiccup so who knows!

I feel baby hiccup quite a lot- they are a lot more spread out. This is a really fast tapping- your description of a rabbit thumping is exactly how it feels!

29 weeks here and already had this a few times. When I've googled it seems normal and is potentially when baby is stretching and it makes them shake/shiver. Like a nervous system reaction and where the nervous system is developing it can be common.

It's not hiccups because my baby gets them on the daily and they are very distinct 😂 like a rhythmic tapping about 1 sec apart.

Oh thanks for this. Seems like it’s quite common then, as I’ve also found previous posts and threads on this matter… I wonder if it’s quite a normal thing, strange no one really talks about it?

@rose19rose I think it is quite normal, I had found a number of threads where people said they had mentioned it to doctors etc and they had said it's normal, but yes weird no one really mentions it!

Well I’ll ask my midwife next week and update the thread to see if I can get any more explanations! I was mainly worried baby was ill/in distress to be moving that frantically!

I’ve had this recently, third pregnancy and only time I’ve experienced it so I worried me a bit but seems very common and caused by baby stretching and shaking while doing so.

I am currently 30 weeks and experiencing the most horrendous sciatica.
can anyone recommend any comfortable sitting and sleeping positions? I’m trying my hardest to keep moving around but the pain is unbearable. I’ve got a hot water bottle and it is great whilst I’m still but as soon as I need to move the pain is back 😭
thank you xxx

@Babycatsmummy Best if you start your own thread because people will only see this if they open the OP’s thread, which has a title unrelated to your problem.
I’d recommend seeing a physio though- they are good with this kind of problem and will know what treatments and exercises are OK during pregnancy. I hope you get sorted.

Oh my goodness I thought I had! I’m so sorry
