Hi all 👋 (First time mum, 38) I thought it was all over and done with by 12 weeks, but here I am at 15 weeks struggling to keep food down, willing myself to eat, puking first thing, struggling at night with insomnia and crying over my lunch 😂🙈 what gives? Is the baby going through a growth spurt or something? 🤨 And IS IT NORMAL 😂🤔

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It can last all the way through I'm afraid! I had 30 weeks of it with my first (but nothing at all with the second).

Scalessayeek · 10/08/2023 21:17

I had it until 36 weeks with my first and my waters went at 36+4. 😖 I don’t know where this myth of 12 weeks came from tbh!

Snugglemonkey · 10/08/2023 21:36

In my first pregnancy it was bad until around week 20, then sporadic. It cleared up around 25 weeks.

In my second pregnancy, I actually lost weight. I was really bad early on, like had to get a drip once due to dehydration and battled so much to prevent it happening again. That eased off around 25 weeks but I still was lower level sick until week 30. Then it was sporadic.

I have not gone a week without vomiting while pregnant.

Irritatingly, I piled weight on so, so quickly after giving birth!!! I was breastfeeding, starving and v quickly heavier than I was pre pregnancy 😫

I had it all the way through from 8 weeks I think. I was sick the morning I went in for my ELCS and had been nil by mouth (that one stung a bit!)

Siestamama · 10/08/2023 21:53

Ok! Thankyou all, sounds more normal than I realized!

All the public health service websites talk about how your morning sickness will likely ‘die down’ by week 12. I’m over here like, are you mocking me! 😂

Have you spoken to your midwife about the sickness? I was very sick in my third pregnancy (until well into the 2nd trimester) & they gave me tablets that really helped. Hope you feel better soon!

Mine only stopped in the delivery room.

Mummy08m · 10/08/2023 22:01

First pregnancy I was nauseous till 20 weeks... second only till about 16 weeks but it was much more acute. It was so miserable.

12 weeks is definitely a myth, I only know one mum who stopped feeling sick by then. All others were 14 weeks at the earliest, some much later.

Sorry op...!

ladygindiva · 10/08/2023 22:03

I had it daily the entire 41 weeks of my first pregnancy ( sorry), second pregnancy cleared up around week 15-fingers crossed for you. I found acupuncture travel bands mildly helpful.

DramaAlpaca · 10/08/2023 22:05

Normal. I've had three babies and each time the all day morning sickness only started to improve at 20 weeks.

Broodywuz · 10/08/2023 22:08

Mine went around 18 weeks in 1st pregnancy, was still physically throwing up when i was in labour 2nd time round. Feel for you OP, god it's hard! I remember being shocked at how nobody had warned me how bad pregnancy was. Hope it passes soon 🤞

Devilsmommy · 10/08/2023 22:21

I had it the whole time, though I did have high BP so that didn't help
