Another thread has got me thinking about this today, so I wondered if anyone has any knowledge about this.
my first child was born at 40+17, weighing over 11lbs. He was born by section after a failed induction involving multiple gels, pessaries and 12 hours on a drip, all of which failed to kick start labour.
I’ve always wondered why I didn’t go into labour but someone commented on another thread that with big babies there sometimes isn’t enough pressure on the cervix to kick start labour and I wondered if anyone knows if this is true or if there’s any actual reason why despite being well overcooked my baby didn’t ever want to come out.
every time I’ve tried to google this over the years, I get lots of comments and advice about birthing options for big babies or info about failed inductions but I’ve never actually understood why I didn’t go into labour.
Does anyone know about this subject?
