No corpus luteum on 8+6 scan

Hello,

I had an early scan today due to having some left lower abdo pains. A viable pregnancy was seen, looks to be 8+6/40 and no cause for the pain was identified. I expected the pain may be due to a corpus luteum cyst, but one wasn't seen. From what I understand I thought the corpus luteum was supposed to be present until the end of the first trimester to provide progesterone to maintain the pregnancy. I am now concerned that I may have a miscarriage due to this.

Had anybody else had an similar experiences? Or know if this is normal for regression of the corpus luteum to have already occured before 9 weeks?

Thanks
