Early scan no heartbeat

Hi..
I am currently 6+3 weeks pregnant and had to have an early scan to rule out ectopic.
When they did the scan they said they could see the sack, the yolk and the foetus pole. However no sign of a heartbeat.

They said it’s pretty much 50/50 as to whether things are ok as it can sometimes be too early to see the heartbeat.
I am worried as my symptoms don’t seem to be as bad this week so I can’t help but think the worst.

has anyone else been in the same boat and what was the outcome?

I have to go back next week for another scan.

thanks

The outcome of the same situation is now 11 years old, a stroppy pre-teen who thinks that I'm going to be able to pull Taylor Swift tickets out of my arse.

We went back for the follow up scan at late-on 7 weeks and all was present that should be - including heartbeat. One very happy couple and one very happy consultant who had been hoping she'd get a "no heartbeat and then all was fine on a follow up scan" case study for the student she had in observing her.

It really is a 50/50 I'm afraid - fingers crossed when you go back there'll be a little heartbeat. Are you sure of your dates?x

Was it abdominal or transvaginal?

RAMLMiles · 09/08/2023 15:38

It really is 50 / 50 at this stage. I was the same at week 6, then at week 7 the foetus was the same size as week 6 but a heartbeat. When they scanned again at week 8 it was the same but a slower heartbeat. Then by week 9 no heartbeat sadly

Hi op, it’s a horrible wait! I do feel for you, but hoping you get good news!
If it helps, I had an early scan at 6 weeks 4 days and no heart beat I was told to return 7 days later at 7 weeks and 4 days and it was beating away! He’s 6 now! 😀
