Spotting 7 weeks pregnant

I’m 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow and on Sunday I started spotting brown discharge I panicked like crazy and went to A&E (I was panicking about an ectopic as I’ve had some aches in my neck/shoulders and arm which have now gone almost). A&E referred to to the EPU and yesterday we had a scan and saw our little baby measuring right on track with a nice strong heartbeat! Just before the scan I went to the loo and wiped and find pink blood not much but enough to be scary but they couldn’t find any reason the blood and didn’t see Any bleeds around the baby or anywhere else. He was very thorough and checked everywhere and couldn’t see anything.

Today however I’m still bleeding but this time it’s brown discharge again?! I’ve also had some minor cramps which I’ve been having on and off for weeks now but it’s worrying me with the brown spotting. Why would I still be bleeding now? I’ve called EPU back and they said not to worry as the scan yesterday was fine. I’m so nervous still though that I’m losing the baby even after seeing heartbeat yesterday! Any one had this and been fine?

Hey OP didn't want to read and run.

I've had bleeding in both successful and not successful pregnancies so my experience of this has gone both ways. This time a sucessful pregnancy - but with 3+ weeks of spotting and bleeding between weeks 4 and 7. I'm now 19+3 with no further bleeding.

It's an agonising wait to see the outcome, and I'm sorry you are going through it however the scan sounds so positive to keep hold of those positive thoughts. Best wishes x

Hello OP. I'm 7+5 and have had brown spotting since 6+3. I had a scan at exactly 7 weeks and everything was absolutely fine. My spotting has chilled out now but it was really scary when I first noticed and I was convinced I was losing the baby. I also had mild cramping. I think for some women this is just normal. You've had a normal scan, so try not to worry now. Enjoy your pregnancy!

Hi @Dreamhex
i had the heaviest bleed at 8 weeks, i was so worried but all turned out to be ok. I know it's so difficult but please try not to worry xx

Thank you for all your replies. I’ve still got brown discharge it is super light and on and off so far just hope it stays that way and then stops 🤞🤞 TMI some times I have to really look at the paper to see it and sometimes it looks like dark wee on paper instead of blood!

i’m still so nervous though. Still have mild cramps but nothing worse than I’ve had in the last few weeks I think. This is our first pregnancy after 18 long months of TTC and I can’t bear the thought of something happening 😪 who knows how long it would take to get pregnant again if the worst happens! Just holding onto that little strong heartbeat on Monday and hoping for a miracle 🙏

Hi there love , is there any update ? How did you get on

Dreamhex · 27/01/2024 17:43

@Geniejinxx i bled for about a week and then had another week of bleeding a week later. I had a private scan and they saw a small area of blood in my uterus. It went my about 10 weeks and was never mentioned at my 12 week scan so must have gone by then.

I’m 31 weeks now - still nervous as hell but I will be until he’s here and most likely when he is here as well 🙈

I had the same kind of spotting as OP and then had a small bleed at 12 weeks right after my 12 week scan, and I'm now 32 weeks!

So pleased to read that everything is also OK with you @Dreamhex
