Third baby due end of Feb and my first midwife appointment is coming up. My first two pregnancies took place in other countries, so in some ways this is all a bit new. I don't have many negative experiences hanging over me but... I get really panicked remembering how often I was told 'as long as the baby's ok, that's all that matters'. It's not the only thing that matters to me!

Would I seem mad/ hostile if I asked the midwife not to say this?! I don't have a great history of being a sane and reasonable person when anxious, unfortunately 😕

Not mad at all. its your birth and your preferences should be respected.

Not to sound like a debbie downer but just be aware that if youre going down the NHS route then it is likely youll find an overworked and underpaid midwife who may just want to get out of there and be done with. Letting you know so it's not a shock on the day. Prepare well beforehand

Good luck

Thank you! The first was in London and really couldn't have been worse in terms of staffing and feeling looked after. DS1 nearly died... but didn't, hurray! Third one will be in Northern Ireland so sort of NHS but things seem to be a bit better here.
