Pain on left side 5 weeks 4 days pregnant

Hi
I’m looking for some reassurance or advice on how I’ve been feeling.
Im currently 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my second baby and ever since about 3 weeks (before I’d even taken a test) I’ve had a pain in my left side, around my hip area, quite low down. A pain similar to the cramps I’d get when ovulating.
The pain comes and goes, sometimes I feels like a stabbing feeling, pulling feeling and sometimes just an ache. Nothing too intense.
I don’t remember feeling this with my first so I’m just a bit worried somethings not quite right.
I’ve had no bleeding or anything else what should make me worried but this aching is just playing on my mind.
Has anyone else has this or similar?
Thanks :)

Hi, I remember having similar in early pregnancy, probably nothing to worry about.

Pain down one side can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy though, so may be worth contacting your GP and getting it checked out? Would be easily ruled out by a scan xx

I had this. I rang EPU and was told to go in and get checked, was scanned and had bloods to rule out ectopic.
Everything was fine and it was put down to stretching.

Normal unless it gets really intense.

In early pregnancy the place where the egg came from turns into a corpus luteum and pumps out hormones to maintain the pregnancy till the placenta forms around week eight. That is likely what you can feel. I’ve had several pregnancies and one ectopic and the ectopic was agony, but the pulsing pain in my ovary was present in all my normal pregnancies X

Mine could be slightly different as we had fresh cycle IVF however I’ve had pain on my left hand side specially when I move or cough/sneeze when they did an ultrasound they spotted a few 5cm cysts which were causing pain and discomfort. The positive if it is a cyst is that it has no impact on the embryo or the pregnancy but they had been worried it might have been an ectopic and had to do an ultrasound to rule it out.
Hope you feel better soon ❤️

Same although they didn't take bloods

Thank you everyone for your responses, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one!
I think I’m going to speak to my GP and ask for a scan to put my mind at rest x

@AppleSeed12 GP Will definitely want to rule out a UTI as well with a urine sample (mine did). Is very common in early pregnancy and easily treated with antibiotics and could also be causing your side pain.

Just to update…I’ve been to see my GP. She took a urine sample which was clear and had a really good feel of my stomach.
She said she wasn’t concerned and to just go back if it gets any worse so we will see! Hopefully it will ease soon.
