Does baby become more active right before labour?

I am 37+6 and baby has been so active all evening. Limbs flying and kicking everywhere and more intensively than normal.

I actually rang triage just to make sure it was all ok as I had read online that this can be a flag but they didn't seem remotely worried about it and said baby prob just having an active period.

But this is so out of norm it got me thinking maybe it's a prelude to labour? Has anyone had the same?

IMO, no. But every woman has different experiences.

They say that once baby falls into a pattern its unlikely to change. The concern lies in if movement decreases. So maybe your baby is just a bit excited at the prospect of arriving earthside. Good luck!

You need to be checked out. A significant increase in movement can sometimes indicate distress or problems with the umbilical cord ie oxygen supply

Anything different is a concern. It's not true they move less, it's not true they move more, what's true is that their shouldn't be a major change. Go for the ward and don't leave till they see you. Baby could be in distress.

I would go get checked. When I was pregnant they said to get any change in the pattern of movements checked.

Go get checked. They can pop on a monitor that will feel if there are low level contractions plus reassure you baby is fine.
