Early pregnancy worries

Hi All,

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for writing this thread but here we go anyway. I've found out I'm pregnant on Tuesday last week (my LMP was 28th of June), so I'm supposed to be 5 weeks pregnant on the dot today.

I had my first blood test taken last Friday which came back at... 40 😳, but I had another blood test done today which came back at 1319 so this is positive news... I guess?

However what worried me is that when they did an ultrasound on me this AM, they could hardly see anything. They said there is something in there that looks like a beginning of a gestational sac but they weren't sure so they still classified this as a "pregnancy of unknown location". Is this normal not to see anything at this stage? Perhaps I'm worrying too much? Has any of you had a similar experience? Thank you in advance x

Why are you having blood tests and scans? It’s so so early, so not being able to see much isn’t necessarily a big concern. Your HCG is increasing nicely which is very positive. They generally say levels should double every 2-3 days.

Hcg numbers are great. Far too early for a scan so please try not to worry. This is exactly why people wait for a scan xx

Thank you both for your replies - to be honest my scan is mainly due to my paranoia - it's my first pregnancy and I saw my lines weren't really getting any darker so I caused an alarm with my fiancé and here we are... hopefully it will all turn out well.. xx

@olgee93 totally get it. I am finally pregnant after my fourth round of ivf. I had a few private scans but only after 7 weeks xx

I don’t think the blood tests and scans are helping you.

You may have also ovulated a bit later or the fertilised egg could have taken a bit longer to inplant (not a problem!) But there are lots of reason why you might not be exactly as far along as you think especially this early on.

Tbh your best bed it getting therapy for your anxiety. There are so many things in pregnancy and with a baby that you could be anxious about. Get help for it now before it clouds your whole pregnancy.
