Begging for vomiting advice

12 weeks and if anything the vomiting is worse, which feels very disheartening because I thought I’d start picking up. The vomiting is so violent, projectile and often makes me wet myself. I’m thrown my back out from it and my throat is so sore.
My GP just told me to read the NHS website. I’m feeling down and worried I’ll be in bed forever!
Has anyone been through this and find things which get them through?

I just feel like it’s impossible to get anything from gps, they just text at my surgery and so it’s really impossible to communicate and they refer me midwife and pharmacy who both say go to your gp.

I had hyperemesis through my pregnancy, I had to be hospitalised several times for fluids as I couldn’t keep anything down. I was also off work for months. I had cyclizine, prochlorperazine from 8 weeks and ondansetron as well from 12 weeks and those helped enormously, especially the ondansetron. It’s hell OP, but there is help available, just lots of GPs don’t understand how bad it is or what to do with it.

Have a look at Pregnancy Sickness Support - it’s a charity and they have lots of resources about advocating for yourself and getting help. I know fighting with doctors feels like the last thing you want to do right now, but unfortunately many aren’t good at dealing with this and you will need to be assertive to get the help you need.

Spent 9 months being sick, for me it was usually after eating or drinking milky drinks. Only good thing about having g a baby in lockdown was I spent virtually ny whole pregnancy in lockdown and didn't go to the office at all so I could be sick in the comfort of my own home! I had a slightly different tactic for the peeing whilst being sick thing, I often used to end up positioning the potty underneath me whilst I was being sick ( had started potty training my eldest whilst pregnant) not sure why I thought it was the best plan really just what happened. You have my sympathies it is miserable and the first piece of toast after baby was born was amazing as first time in so many months of eating not wanting to be sick.

I had hyperemesis gravidarum with my first was horrendous.... asda do a ginger and honey cordial in a glass bottle I used to put a little with some lemonade which helped immensely....!

With my second pregnancy I tried acupuncture and honestly it was an absolute game changer... I did it from 6 weeks to the end of the pregnancy once a week I felt the results within a couple of weeks... cannot reccomend it enough!

Thank you @PepeParapluie . I called their helpline and got some great advice. I’be now tried all three of the first line anti ametics and promethazine is keeping the vomiting to just once a day which is amazing. I still feel sick all day but am able to eat and drink!

Thanks for the acupuncture advice @Givemeabreak01. I actually have had acupuncture for non pregnancy things, I just can’t get in my car and get there unfortunately!

I’m so pleased you’ve found something that is helping. Fingers crossed that your sickness/nausea passes soon but at least you’ve got something that’s helping in the meantime.
