Bleeding again and feeling worried/fed up

I'm 12 weeks today by LMP (but a few days earlier from a scan). I'm currently having my 4th occurance of bleeding. It's mostly brown, not super heavy - this is also what it was like the first and third time I had bleeding. I know hopefully brown blood isn't the end of the world. The second time I had bleeding it was red, heavy with clots - on that occasion I went to the EPU for a scan they said the baby looked fine and they couldnt see a cause of the bleed.

I also had a private scan at 10+5 after the third bleed and again baby was fine and they couldnt see a cause of any bleeding. But I'm worried because it keeps happening, and stressed because I'm not getting any answers as to what's causing it, and tbh fed up because I feel like I can't enjoy my pregnancy at all because this keeps happening.

Wondering if anyone had anything similar?

I spoke to the midwife who has referred me to the EPAU for another scan, just waiting to hear back on that. I wonder if it's a hematoma which would at least explain the bleeding, but is it possible it was missed on previous scans?

Yep, I had this, hideous and so stressful, I had it at 6, 8, 10 & 13 weeks, I pretty much had my own chair at the EPU. No reason was ever found and after the last episode, the rest of the pregnancy was plain sailing. DS is 12 now with no ill effects. I feel for you though, it really is awful.

@TokyoSushi thanks for sharing. I really hope I'm like you and this is the last time and it's all ok from here.

Sounds likely to be a hematoma, I had pretty much the same thing except my spotting/bleeding happened every other week until around 16 weeks when it resolved itself. He's 16 months now and a holy terror. 😳

@Seryse did they ever find a hematoma when they scanned you? Glad to hear your DS is thriving!

They did, eventually. At about 12 weeks one of my colleagues found it (I work in Fetal medicine), the location of it and size (it was quite a small one) made it difficult to find previously. Have since had another baby, she's 7 weeks, and the entire pregnancy I... well I didn't enjoy it at all, like the previous one I was constantly checking the loo paper for any tiny pink streak ot sign of bleeding starting but nothing, didn't even have any sickness with her (lost 9 stone through severe hyperemisis with my boy lol, was like the exorcist for a while dispute multiple anti sickness meds and hospitizations for iv fluids).

I know it's hard, really hard, but try not to let it get into your head too much, I wish I'd taken my own advice and had been able to enjoy my pregnancies but I do understand how fucking terrifying it is when you see those smears on the loo roll. I went from going to the loo every hour just purely to see if there was anything there (resulted in giving myself some lovely friction burns to the hoo haa from all the harsh wiping) to then going the opposite way, I'd go hours without going cause i couldn't face seeing a spot on the tissue (which gave me a uti... please learn from my mistakes lol). Sending love, hugs and positive thoughts your way, keep us updated mama ❤️🥰

EPAU called back, they weren't super concerned and told me to hold on to my 12 week scan which is on Monday next week. Hopefully the bleeding resolves on its own soon.

@Seryse I think I should buy some fancy soft toilet paper, i'm definately a 'wipe every hour to check' person and I don't need friction burns adding to my woes!

I went through a phase of buying the wet toilet wipes (like baby wipes but flushable) cause I really did make myself raw. Even when nothing showed up, I'd wipes again, harder, just to prove to myself there was nothing there. Its horrible how your head goes that way so I absolutely understand and feel for you chick ❤️
