Midwife anxiety!

Hi there! So tomorrow I have an early morning midwife appointment. My morning sickness has been absolutely constant until about 5pm in the afternoon so I have huge anxiety I'll throw up while I'm there! I'm a very anxious person anyway and I'm sure she's seen it all before, but how can I prevent being sick while I'm there? Or any words or wisdom? Thank you!

I don’t have great words of wisdom for you but I will say that midwife’s usually have years of experience and have seen it all, please don’t worry. I know that’s easier said than done but you have nothing to worry about if you’re sick, it’s ok. I’m sure she’s seen it before and won’t judge you.

If you want to try something to keep it at bay I used to carry a box of chopped up lemons around and stick my nose in when it got bad. It usually did the trick and when it didn't, I had a handy tupperware right there!

I'm sorry you're feeling rough. Definitely don't worry - they've seen waaaay worse.

Please don't worry about what the midwife thinks (yes she will have seen a lot worse before) but do think of your comfort - what would make you feel better to have with you, just in case you do have to run to the loo to throw up? Maybe pack a change of clothes, wipes, water, anything that lessens the nausea like the box of lemons mentioned above or something smelling of mint or ginger. Even if you don't use any of it, it will make you feel more comfortable knowing that you've got everything at hand.

Also just wanted to say that you mention you feel anxious sometimes - it might be a good opportunity to bring this up with the midwife and talk about how to deal with these thoughts as the pregnancy progresses. Who you could call etc if you were worried about something, or how to deal with common pregnancy worries.
