Brown discharge at 28 weeks

Sorry in advance for the TMI descriptions of my discharge!

Hi everyone. I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with my second child. Yesterday and today my discharge has been dark brown in colour at times, I guess suggesting old blood. It's literally just one wipe after I've been to the toilet, rather than a constant flow of that makes sense. It has happened about 4 times.I have been having quite thick stretchy discharge on and off for the past couple of months, and this is what it's like now, just a different colour to the usual white / see through. I haven't had sex for a couple of weeks so it's not that.

My first son was born at 35 weeks which is making me a bit twitchy.

I'm on holiday in Wales at the moment (normally live in England), here til next weekend. I stupidly forgot my yellow book. However I could get the numbers from the front if needed. I'm not experiencing any pain or aches alongside it.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before, and what happened / what you did. I took some photos but feel weird posting them unless someone thinks it would be helpful!? TIA.

Phone the midwife. I would worry could be mucus plug coming away.

You need to be seen, today. Are you still feeling movement ?

Hiddenvoice · 30/07/2023 08:37

I would go and get checked over. If you don’t have any numbers then phone 111 and ask for a local pregnancy triage number.
Can you still feel your baby move?

Thanks all. Yes I have been feeling plenty of movements, sorry I should have added that. So annoyed that I left my maternity book. Just getting the number to call for a friend who is also pregnant. I don't have a midwife as such, I have seen 2 different ones so far and both have left. Have my 28 week appointment once I'm back home and will be like 29+3.

I meant getting the number from a friend, not for a friend.

Just an update. Rang my local maternity triage and the midwife wasn't worried as it's brown indicating old blood. That combined with movements being normal, no pain etc, she just said to call again if the blood became red. Thanks everyone for your help.
