No morning sickness in second pregnancy?

Hello,

Currently 9 weeks pregnant with our second child. With our first DD I was sick as a dog from week 7-13 and I just generally felt horrific. I can't help but worry that something isn't quite right this time as besides the huge achey boobs and bloating I wouldn't know I was pregnant. I had a bit of nausea around 6 weeks but then that disappeared and don't really seem to have any food aversions either!

We had a scan at 7+3 and saw a heartbeat but I can't help but think that the lack of symptoms now means that I've had a MMC that I'll see at the 12 weeks.

Has anyone else had totally different symptoms/symptoms that went as quickly as they came with each of their DC?

My second pregnancy was twins and never felt a second of sickness and other than being in maternity wear by 9 weeks I'd never have known I was pregnant let alone having twins as has zero symptoms 😂

miniworry · 30/07/2023 07:16

@onlylovecanhurtlikethis wow that's crazy, and with twins as well! Second the need for maternity trousers but I'm just horrendously bloated rather than a bump!

11+2 here , had two healthy scans so far!
not a slither of sickness, trying to feel lucky other than worried!!

my friend had one pregnancy no sickness and one with terrible sickness , different sexes so not sure if that had an effect or old wives tale!

Bet this one is a Boy.

My anecdata says that girls make you sick and boys don't.*

*No scientific evidence at all.

I had a girl for my first and was very sick. Current 29 weeks with a boy and wasn’t sick at all!

I was sick with DS and not DD!

I think sometimes in second pregnancies your body somehow ‘knows’ what it is doing.

I’m sure all is fine OP, I know it is bizarrely unnerving though to not feel any different!

miniworry · 30/07/2023 08:25

@Summermeadowflowers definitely unnerving! I'd fully braced myself with my sickness bands and disposable sickness bags and then other than a week of feeling a bit 'hungover' I've had nothing!!

I'm honestly not complaining if all is ok at all, your brain just can't help but think no symptoms isn't a good sign!

Love the old wives tale of a boy too, I'd heard people saying this!

Oh my best friend example was other way round. Number 1 no sickness . Number 2 very sick!

The mystery continues !!
Looking at all the old wives tales they point to boy for me. Will be interesting to see but having a surprise so a longer wait 😄

Summermeadowflowers · 30/07/2023 08:40

You and @miniworry will have to update when you have your babies!

Magenta82 · 30/07/2023 08:43

Only had one DD but absolutely no sickness at all.

aSpanielintheworks · 30/07/2023 08:48

I don't want to post negative stories, just mindful and realistic that sometimes yes it does happen.
I had some early bleeding so had a scan at 9 weeks, all fine. I'd been feeling very sick at this point. But then around 11 weeks the sickness suddenly vanished, along with all other symptoms, I remember thinking I fancied some fish & chips when I'd been unable to eat for weeks.
I mc at 15 weeks but they said the baby measured about 10. Where my sickness ended.
Its perfectly possible everything is fine though, I wish you all the very best for a happy outcome.

Four pregnancies for me and each one was totally different. Try not to read anything into it x

Mangotango39 · 30/07/2023 08:51

@aSpanielintheworks the way I read was OP didn't have that strong of symptoms that have banished, she was comparing to her different pregnancy . So not such a sudden drop off .

very sorry for your loss x

Mangotango39 · 30/07/2023 08:51

Vanished not banished opps !

zozueme · 30/07/2023 08:54

No sickness at all in 3rd pregnancy and it also went very smoothly. Try not to worry 🙂

PinkButtercups · 30/07/2023 09:11

Too add also never had any sickness or any early pregnancy symptoms in my first pregnancy!

jadey1991 · 30/07/2023 09:30

I haven't had any sickness in the any of my pregnancies. 2 girls 1 boy. I'm currently pregnant with my 4th girl 20+4 and no sickness.

In the beginning of pregnancies I was bloated and tired but they disappagter I was 9/10 weeks.
Try not to stress op.jm sure everything is alright x congratulations x

NancyJoan · 30/07/2023 09:32

With DD, I was sick all day every day until the day she arrived.

With DS, I felt sick until about 16 weeks, but never actually threw up.

Best of luck w your scan.

Pleasemrstweedie · 30/07/2023 09:36

Two DDs here. HG in first pregnancy. Absolutely nothing in second.

Yes thankfully I do seem to have read it wrong, I read it as a drop off of symptoms. If you have no symptoms but have seen everything is fine on your scan already, you're a very lucky person! Enjoy it x

ginandtonicformeplease · 30/07/2023 16:50

Two successful pregnancies and MMC. For my MMC, symptoms just vanished overnight. For DC1, sick as anything for the first two trimesters (and end of the third 🙄). For DC2, not nauseous in the slightest. I wouldn't worry about the different symptoms, it would be vanishing symptoms that I'd be worried about.
