Empty Gestational Sack

Hi All,

I went for an early eating scan tonight, based on my last period I should be 9 weeks, but my gestational sack was measuring 15mm and no baby to be seen. I’ve had no bleeding and lots of pregnancy symptoms. The sonographer said I need to go back in a week, it’s either earlier than I thought or the baby hasn’t developed.

anyone got some good news stories on similar situations? I’m devastated.

This isn’t just cramping it’s much worse, I’ve had the normal early pregnancy cramping. My doctor just called. They won’t refer me, based on the scan, my cycle and my symptoms there is no way it could be that far out on dates and the baby must’ve stopped, he has told me I am miscarrying and to expect to bleed over the weekend, if I don’t then they’ll refer me as it will be incomplete.

Hi All, just an update from me. I have now started to bleed so unfortunately it was a missed miscarriage and my body is now doing what it needs to do. X

I had an early scan at 6 something weeks and there was nothing to be seen in the sac, went back two weeks later and there was a baby x

I didn't read til the bottom; I'm sorry for your loss. I also had two miscarriages and I'm it's devastating. Rest up x

@SPink91 glad you have some clarity, being in limbo is the worst (im currently in limbo right now). Make sure you take another pregnancy test 3 weeks from now to ensure its negative and to make sure you have passed everything. Since the docs havent been very helpful for you i didnt know if u knew to do that or not!

@Louoby thank you, mine stopped growing at 6+5 but my body has only just recognised it at 9+5 :-(.

@Flowerlover010 that’s the only positive to be honest. Is it Monday you go back? How are you feeling? I didn’t know that, no, so thank you!! I just want it over as soon as possible, me my BF and his daughter go to Disneyland next weekend and I want to be ok for that, she’s 14 and doesn’t need to know what’s happened.

what are peoples thoughts on work? My boss knows, he knew I was pregnant due to my sickness I suffered and then I told him once I’d been docs that I was miscarrying and I stopped work for the day, I am thinking I should get signed off next week? I’m then on annual leave the week after (for context if I self certify I won’t get paid if a doc does it I will).

@SPink91 you need to take the time you need mentally more than anything so do what u need to do. I think you should be ok for next weekend, although i guess its different for everyone but after id passed it, it was like a normal period for me.

Im in limbo with potentially my 4th. Waiting for a 2nd scan sunday.

@Flowerlover010 Thanks hun, I think I’ll do an online form on Monday asking the doctor to sign me off for a week. Then I’ll at least have 2 weeks to cope emotionally.

@SPink91 thanks. Please dont forget to do the pregnancy test, its easy to forget but important. I bled like a period for 2 weeks with one of mine thinking that's its and its over and it was far from over as i had retained products. Hope you recover well and look after yourself. X

We were told over a year ago they could see nothing which was odd as I was meant to be almost 12 weeks...so we had to go to another hospital a few days later I've never been so anxious in all my life and nearly fell of the hospital bed when they found 2 heartbeats. Now we have twins who are 1. I feel for you but it's the second in our family where they saw nothing as my sister in law was meant to be 8 weeks and they saw nothing and now they have a 2 year old he just took longer to show for some me odd reason.

I had the same experience with my first pregnancy.

On a more positive note, I got pregnant again three months later and it resulted in a full term and healthy pregnancy. x

@Flowerlover010 I will do, thank you. So far I’ve just had spotting, I haven’t yet started to bleed properly, so I think it’ll take a few days.

@Ladyj84 No worries :-) thank you for your positive story though, I am so happy you guys had a happy outcome.

@Thebirdhouse I am, my other half is keeping me fed and watered bless him. The doctor told me that it shouldn’t affect my next pregnancy so I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed. We will wait a couple of months just as I know I will need to emotionally recover.
