Clear Blue Ovulation tests - do they actually work? (Should I see a line progressing?)

I've started using them for the first time one month ago. My cycle is pretty regular, 28 days, and it tells me to start testing on day 8. Two days of an empty circle, followed by 4 days (+/- 1 day) blinking smiley before static smiley appears. When I take the stick out of the indicator to look at the lines, I can't see a clear progression though. That makes the cynic in me wonder....do they actually work or do they make an educated guess? After all, predicting that the fertile window starts on day 10 of a regular 28 day cycle and that ovulation will occur a few days thereafter would probably lead to a high accuracy rate either way.

I haven’t used the clearblue ones (although I have seen several posts of them being faulty) I used easy@home test strips and the premom app and they were so easy to use, much cheaper and you could see the progression.

I did get line progression on the clear blue, but my surge was so fast they’d all be so faint except the one that gave me the static smiley!

Interesting to hear...maybe I'll try easy@home. I literally can't see a difference if I compare the empty circle and blinking smiley days. If anything, the first blinking smiley seems to have a weaker line than the previous empty circle day.

@creativeteapot maybe because blinking smiley is looking for estrogen rather than the LH surge, I guess you won’t see progression until LH starts to rise?

Worked perfectly for me and as you are getting a few days of flashing and then one static I would say it is being accurate for you too. Both pregnancies I got caught first time using these so very lucky x

@ChloeN I didn't know that! Thank you, that might make sense then...
Also thanks @Glitterstars for sharing your experience!
