Extreme bloat, 11 weeks - cyclogest?

Hi, looking for some advice.
I am 11 weeks and very happy to be pregnant but my stomach is HUGE! The sonographer confirmed it is bloat! 🙈
I am just wondering if the cyclogest could be causing this? Those that were on cyclogest did it improve when you stopped taking it? Also could it be making my morning sickness worse?
This is an ivf pregnancy after multiple miscarriages and the clinic actually only suggested taking it until bfp. But after the MCs I felt anxious so they said I could take it to 16 weeks if it helped with the anxiety. Now wondering if I should stop it at 12 weeks? Has anyone had any negative impact from stopping at 12 weeks rather than 16?
Also if anyone has any suggestions to get rid of the bloat? I have tried rennies and drink loads of water.
Thanks for any advice! 😩

I’m not taking anything and hugely bloated 😕 I’m not sure if it cyclogest could be making it worse for you but it can definitely be normal in pregnancy.

I’m on cyclogest and the bloating gets bigger throughout the day. Not sure if it’s caused by the progesterone or just pregnancy. Maybe both.

For my first IVF pregnancy I was on progesterone pesseries and the bloat was insane. I wore maternity clothes right up until I stopped them at 10 weeks and then poof it disappeared. Back in skinny jeans until 19 weeks!

I've just had my positive test from my second IVF and again I'm bloated as hell at 5dp5dt!!

My clinic keep you on them until 10 weeks which is when the placenta takes over production. Then you stop them. So I'd definitely give them a call and get some reassurance to stop them!

Congratulations and hope you debloat soon!

Oh god OP I'm the same! I'm 5+4 from IVF and on progesterone and I look about 6 months. I'm also eating like an absolute pig so I'm sure that's not helping either.

I am on cyclogest too, currently 7+4 l. When I was only 4+2 two different people commented on my pregnancy (to the extent I look about 6/7 months pregnant). I am pretty OK in the morning but as the day goes on I absolutely blow up. I actually read it as the main side effect on the leaflet in my medication was bloating and extreme fatigue. It's so uncomfortable, but after so many miscarriages I am trying to tell myself it'll be worth it.

Progesterone definitely causes bloating, what helps me is doing some stretches/yoga poses to help my system not be at such a standstill. You can find loads of positions that can help online.

I was on it until week 12. Wasn't bloated. But bloating is super common in pregnancy xx

FlapJackered · 25/07/2023 21:14

Looks like I am not the only one which is reassuring! Thank you all for the solidarity!

I just took a fybogel and I can tell you, don't do it! Now I have stabbing stomach cramps on top of the even more massive bloat! 🙈

@Cheetocat good thinking on the yoga. I am going to try that now!

@Olivia199 that is reassuring! I might give the clinic a call and talk it through with them. I am currently on 3 day so wondering if I just cut it down to 2 a day if that will help.

Bloating is super common in pregnancy. With my second I bloated massively from 4 weeks. It was so bad that my midwife mistook me for 6 month’s pregnant at my 8 weeks booking in appointment. My third I wasn’t too bad with it until around 14 weeks when I blew up like a puffer fish. I wasn’t taking anything with either, it’s just one of those really lovely pregnancy symptoms unfortunately. Also tried everything and nothing reduced it. It just eventually turned into baby

I’m taking cyclogest and have been outrageously bloated since week 5.

I didn’t conceive via IVF but this is my second successful pregnancy. I’m currently 9 weeks and look the same as I did at 20 weeks with my son!

ive assumed the difference is the cyclogest 🤷🏻‍♀️

ES1986 · 26/07/2023 04:28

I bloated on cyclogest. I didn’t care about the physical appearance, it was just so uncomfortable at times. Definitely helped eating much smaller meals/grazing, as opposed to three bigger meals a day. Also going for a couple of quick walks a day, even if I didn’t feel like it, I felt better afterwards.

This is my third baby (4th pregnancy) and I’m on cyclogest and honestly so bloated it is insane. I’m 12 weeks but by the end of the day I honestly could pass for 30 weeks. People have asked me if it’s a boy/girl and how much they kick etc 😂 im so bloated that I’m assuming it’s the cyclogest. Having said that I was also pretty bloated with my second to the point that when I went to my GP at 14 weeks for something unrelated they sent me to A&E because my stomach was so huge they were worried there was something seriously wrong with me. Nope, just bloat!
