When did you see a heartbeat?

Hi 👋

I have a history of miscarriage and was advised to book an early viability scan around 7 weeks but unfortunately I'll be on holiday around then and for some time.

The latest I can get a scan is 6 weeks 1 day so I've booked in for then.

Question.... when did you first see a heartbeat? I'm really hoping to get this confirmation before we go so I can enjoy the holiday. With my daughter I saw it at 6+3 so hoping 6+1 will be okay.

I had a scan at 7+3 weeks and saw a healthy/strong heartbeat 😊 Congratulations x

I was 7+1 and purposefully didn't book a scan earlier than this as if there wasn't a heartbeat I didn't want to be in limbo, not knowing if it was a definite miscarriage or not.

I've seen people who've had heartbeat from 5.5 weeks so it's possible.

Ivf clinics say you can potentially see a heart beat at 5 weeks but its not a guarantee vs 6 weeks

Thank you for your replies so far! Yes ideally I'd wait until 7 weeks, tricky timing for the holiday. I'm pretty sure I implanted early and I know my dates exactly due to tracking / temps. Hoping early implantation buys me a few extra days and perhaps I'll be later than the due date calculator thinks I am! Had a very very faint line at 8dpo

It would depend on whether it would ruin your holiday if you didn’t see a heartbeat? Some do at 6 weeks and some don’t.

8 weeks. We were advised against an earlier scan as you might not see a heartbeat at 6 weeks even if everything is okay, so it would add to the anxiety. I was told that at 8 weeks it's pretty cut and dry either there's a heartbeat or not.

6+6. Personally I wouldn't go any earlier as the stress of not seeing anything and then waiting two weeks would absolutely ruin me. Xx

I had at exact 6w, heartbeat was 92 bpm which was normal at that gestation!!

CrazyCatMom · 24/07/2023 19:17

I was scanned in EPU today. 5.5 weeks and there was a heartbeat 💓

7w5. Nothing at 5w5.

How can you get yourself in the right headspace to accept that you may well not see a heartbeat at 6w1, and that is ok and won't ruin your holiday.

6 + 6 we went - heartbeat internally
