Pregnancy and slug culprit

Ok, I know, I know but mumsnet is currently my safe space for my OCD.

So last night, my Husband went out by the front door with no shoes, only to pop the recycling in the bin. When he came back in, he was having a little panic because he felt something squished in his toes, he kept checking couldn’t see anything but whatever it was freaked him out. He kept saying I think it was a slug! Anyway, the slug had flung off his foot and attached itself to our clothes washing basket which is fabric. He got it with tissue and took it out to the bin. I dettol sprayed the bag but don’t think I wiped it down as I was grossed out.

I then had an OCD Meltdown and am now scared of catching bacteria off this slug or if it got on any of our clothes and all I want to do is throw the entire contents out incase somehow the slub bacteria gets to the baby by me wiping my face on a top even though it would be cleaned or something. Again; I know I have very bad headaches OCD and anxiety and in the process of hopefully getting more help with it! But in the mean time I come here for some form of support/info.

Thanks.

Poor you, this level of anxiety sounds hard to deal with.
the slug is absolutely fine, don’t think about it again. No worse than bare feet outdoors coming in, or shoes coming inside.

I hate slugs. Hate them.

Slugs sometimes get into houses. You would usually see a silver trail but not always.

The one you describe presents no risk to you at all.

100 percent nothing to worry about in any way shape or form.

You could literally eat the slug and it would do you no harm.

It will be fine. Your OCD and anxiety doesn’t seem to be fine though, give the midwife a call to see if they can put you through to the mental health team. Also, tell them about the headache, it might be nothing but please mention that to the midwife’s as well.

That sounds horrible for you! (I can't stand slugs - stepped on one a while ago with a similar outcome to yours...and I threw up twice afterwards as a result 🤢 Revolting things).

Could you stick everything into a hot wash with laundry sanitiser, maybe give everything a soak in the sanitiser first? I'm sure you know logically that it's not necessary, and that it's extremely unlikely that this would cause any problems, but I understand that OCD worries can be very persistent so that might help you to relax about it?
