Baby sling/carrier after c section

Hi everyone :)

I’m currently pregnant with my 2nd child, and I’m having a c section. I’m looking for any advice or recommendation on the best way to find one, or ones that worked for you after a section.

For background, I’m only 5ft and have a relatively small waist. My friend gave me one from Lidl for my first, but it was too big for my waist on the tightest setting. I also tried one of those wraps where you tie it around you from scratch, and would prefer something easier this time. I didn’t really use a carrier or sling last time as it was during lockdown.

TIA!

I used the material ones when my son was newborn then a born when he was bigger and could support his head more.

The material takes a bit of practice but once you have it it's really nice to be so cosy with your baby.

(Had a c section and was using material one from about 8/9 days, I had a long hospital stay)

Hi, I recommend looking for a library in your area where you can go along and try different slings/carriers. The one I went to also did rental so you could take a sling or carrier away and borrow it for a week. Not sure if you can try them on in shops? Or if you have friends with different types you can try? I am petite and found a Hannah sling worked best for me with young babies (both c section deliveries), you may prefer something different x

Baby Bjorn mini - no waist straps so mine didn't irritate my scar. Used from about two weeks and very quick easy to get on.

Find a second hand one as they are great when baby is small but the weight is all on your shoulders so I sold mine and moved to a more structured carrier that spread the weight once my baby got heavy at 5/6 months

Koala Cuddle band is a sling, but it's sort of pre-tied so a lot less faff. You can get them on Amazon

I had a close caboo which is like a pre tied wrap one; I’m quite slight and the structured ones like bjorn ones hurt my shoulders whereas the close Caboo was great and fine with my c section recovery
