Anyone had false pregnancy tests??

To cut a long story short, a week ago - 3 days after my period was due i took a pregnancy test (the accu news one from home bargains- always use these, never had an issue) and it came up Positive.. Was shook up, definitely not planning another child so thought must be wrong.. Maybe i did it wrong etc.. So did the other in the box.. Again positive.. Opened another box.. Did another - again positive 😳 the next day i used the second test in the second box, again positive... Wrapped my head around the fact i need a new car😂 Fast forward to tonight, im spotting.. Iv miscarried before but it wasnt like that, it was different.. So i sent hubby out for another test (he came home with clear blue) this is now showing as negative.. Am i having a miscarriage? Was i ever pregnant? I should mention the fact all my children have been born by csection, my miscarriage had to be removed surgically as i dont dilate, my cervix is shit..so i am worried.. Has this ever happened to anyone else.. I could understand maybe one false positive but 4?? (should mention the positives were all from the same batch) thank you for reading if you got this far.. Any advice is appreciated 😊

Do you have photos if the tests?

sorry opSounds so stressful and unclear 💕

This happened to someone I know, she had elevated hcg levels (or something similar that got picked up by the tests) due to a medical condition, maybe cystic ovaries or something I can't remember. She had to have multiple further medical tests to find out she wasn't actually pregnant.

I hope whichever it is, its what you're hoping for

I dont sorry.. Its really weird cos the first test took a good few minutes (not longer than the 5 though) to come up Positive.. And it was quite faint but not so faint that you couldn't see it.. Then the others came up Positive almost straight away, but this one tonight was firm fat negative so I'm just so confused.. Even when i miscarried before they still showed up Positive even when i was bleeding (they were my hopes that would be all ok) i just can't seem to wrap my head around what's going on.. My heart just feels a little bit broken by it all which confuses me more as another baby was never even on the cards.

Oh gosh i hope your friend was ok❤️.. Yes, Thats what i read on good old google too that false readings can be triggered by other conditions which is just making me even more worried 😩

Ah thanks, we've lost touch a bit now but I found out from a mutual that she went on to have a baby about the same time as I had dd (so a few years after that happened) and they're getting on great. So if you have something similar (touch wood it's just faulty tests) then it hopefully isn't anything serious just one of those things.

How many days after your period due date did you start spotting & have the negative test?

Unfortunately it may be a chemical given its under the 5 weeks. Mind yourself x

Cas112 · 23/07/2023 10:03

It sounds like a chemical pregnancy x

Yes i rang my local epau this morning, explained the situation & she said that's likely what has happened - "a chemical pregnancy that has resolved itself" i am to do another test in the morning & if that is also negative then its all gone.. I explained how my cervix doesnt dilate so would it still be able to pass or do i need to be seen but she was a bit unhelpful and just kept repeating herself (maybe she didn't understand me properly idk) so i assume my body will allow it to pass naturally.. Thank you for your reply ❤️

Chemical pregnancy is slightly different to a miscarriage, it usually hasn't implanted so there would be no embryo to pass. You would essentially have a late period, which is probably what she means by corrected itself.

Cas112 · 23/07/2023 17:20

You wouldn't need to be seen for a chemical pregnancy as nothing would be passing other than pretty much a period so unless you have a trouble releasing periods you'll be fine

Thank you for your replies.. It probably sounded stupid i realise, but never having had a chemical pregnancy before im not aware of what happens/supposed to happen❤️ thank you all for your replies & advice.. Its much appreciated 🙂
