NT 3.6mm and fluid around tummy - HELP please

Hi all

had a bit of a shock at a 10 week scan I just had at EPU (went as had severe abdominal cramping). Baby is there and heartbeat present but they have told me there is excess fluid around the neck (3.6mm) - they like it to be under 3.5? And also fluid around the tummy 0.8mm.

they have told me this can indicate a chromosome abnormality or a potential heart defect.

they have booked me in for Monday (they wanted me in tomorrow but consultant is on leave) for a fetal medicine referral for a Nip test? (I think it’s called that).. I have no idea how long results take of that. They said this is the non invasive test for the 3 chromosome issues. This is before I will be even 12 weeks.. this is just based on the 10 weeks scan.

they seemed quite concerned and said it’s a 50/50 chance of something being wrong.

my mind is everywhere.

any success stories would be much appreciated.

🥺🥺🥺

NIPT testing is a simple blood test. I did mine privately and it came back in a few days. My circumstances are different to yours but I can tell you for sure that it will give you a much clearer indication of what's going on. Sending lots of love x

How did your results go? I’m going through something very similar 😔 I hope it was all ok xx

Hi @Marshmellow93 - sorry you are going through this. I had the NIPT and it came back low risk. I decided not to go for amnio. What is your situation? Sending positive thoughts xx

We went for a scan and NIPT blood test today that we are waiting for. The sonographer has said there is lots of fluid pouches around the baby which she has said means there is a problem with the baby it just isn’t diagnosed yet. It’s such a stressful wait and just preparing for worst and hoping for best. Xx

@Marshmellow93 so sorry to hear you are going through this. My thoughts go out to you. Please think positively. I’ve read so many positive stories where people are told early on there is a problem but then have tests and find out everything is fine. I really hope this is the case for you xx
