Help! No fetal pole..going mad…

I had bad cramps so got an early scan, said from the first day of my last period I should be 7 weeks but on my scan said it looked around 4.
they said they want me to come back in 2 weeks for another scan because it was too early to see a heartbeat.
reading the notes they gave me I said it said no fetal pole found. And when I’ve typed into google not knowing what it was I’ve saw the word miscarriage 💔
can someone please let me know what all this means and does it mean miscarriage because waiting 2 weeks to find out is going to kill me!

How sure are you of your dates? You may have ovulated later than you think, which would mean that you aren't as far along as you expect. You will probably see a big difference when you go back in 2 weeks. It'll be a long wait but don't despair yet, it still could be a perfectly fine pregnancy.

I agree with @Whyisitdarkalready it could be a perfectly fine pregnancy, but you should also prepare yourself for it going the other way also, especially if you are sure of your dates. If you are sure of dates then a heartbeat and fetal pole should certainly be visible at this stage, in that case it will be a missed miscarriage.

It is standard practice for them to wait a few weeks to scan again to double check incase of progress

I am so sorry you are going through this, I really hope it all turns out ok

they said they don’t think I’m as far on as I should be off my periods they said around 4-5 weeks

This isn't something to necessarily worry about on it's own because it's always possible you ovulated later than expected. However in conjunction with pain and bleeding (have you had any?) these are not good signs I'm afraid Flowers

Chrissy15 · 19/07/2023 14:02

Bleeding was only light for one day. And cramps can be normal in early pregnancy

When did you get a positive test op?
it might just be to early and ovulation was later - do you usually have irregular periods?

Chrissy15 · 19/07/2023 15:16

@Mangotango39 i always use to be 1-2 weeks late but past 5 periods I’ve only been late few days

Hey
As said before it could just be that you ovulated later & still too early to see (and I've seen loads of happy endings with this!)
Something I've just been through myself however, and I think more women if they don't already know, should be made aware, of an anembryonic pregnancy.. or what used to be called a blighted ovum.. Where unfortunately you have everything there - gestational sac, but unfortunately no embryo, etc.. your body basically reabsorbs what was there at a very early stage.
I'm not going to sugar coat it.. Its torture, because whilst you are waiting for answers you will google everything to death, you will have pregnancy symptoms, dark tests, so on. Every part of you will tell you, you are pregnant. So what I can say is I hope against hope this isn't the case for you, but this could be another outcome of it.
My mindset after many, many tears & pain.. Is now I'm getting to try again, & it's not easy, but I'm sending you huge huge loves 💖💖
You can message me if you have questions xx

When did you first get a positive test?

Chrissy15 · 19/07/2023 20:30

@Overthebow 6 days ago x

Sounds like you ovulated later in your cycle and that's why you're not seeing an awful lot on this early scan. It doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to miscarry.

And when was the bleeding?

Chrissy15 · 20/07/2023 08:17

@Overthebow @MeinKraft the bleeding was over a week ago. Was only a little bit when I wiped (just had sex aswl) not sure if that had something to do with it

Hi OP,
how long are your usual cycles and are you typically regular?
As others are said, this could mean one of two things:

  1. you ovulated late this month and therefore are only 4-5 weeks along.
  2. you are 7 weeks along but the pregnancy hasn’t developed properly and you are having an early miscarriage. The diagnosis will depend on the next scan. wishing all the best for you xxx

Did you test before that and got negative? Or you tested on a whim 6 days ago? If your test only became positive 6 days ago it's likely that you are less than 7 weeks pregnant, and so it may have just been too early too see any more.

Twocatstwodogs · 16/08/2023 15:22

@Overthebow how are things going? Was there any update on this?
