Is it gallstones? Or gas?

Hi, wondering if anyone can help. I woke at 1am the other night with bad pain in my upper abdomen, it was central and about half way between my sternam and my belly button. It got quite bad so I called the maternity line (I'm 23 weeks) as I was worried about baby, she said didn't sound like it was to do with him. So she said to take some Paracetamol and gaviscon and walk around. I did all that, ended up on all fours, head down on floor and passed a bit of gas! It seemed to die down after that but it had been about an hour of pain by this point.

I don't know if it's gas, it seemed like it but the level of pain was much worse than any gas I've had before! And it also seems to tick a lot of gallstone boxes. I'll call the doctor tomorrow but I am so so anxious about it. Where did everyone else experience gas or gallstone pain? Thank you!

I had gallstones and for me the pain always started on the right (near the gallbladder) - sometimes it would extend into the centre of my stomach or round my back but would always be radiating from the right side. I’d get it checked for reassurance but from my experience sounds a little bit more like trapped wind! 🙂

Thank you @OvertiredAndUnderwhelmed for your response. Fingers crossed it was horrendous pregnancy gas. I've had kidney stones before so the thought of gallstones during pregnancy is not appealing!!

Sounds like gas if you were able to relieve it by passing gas. Try some rennie deflataline tablets they are great for gas pains.

I ended up in a&e once with gas pains thinking I was having a heart attack they were so bad.
