7 weeks - cramping and spotting

Hiya, I've read through the forum for similar threads, but there's not much follow up from people once they've had their initial post.

I'm scared that I'm miscarrying. I've had cramping and spotting for 24 hours. It was initially light pink. Now it's brownish. Like when I start a period. Only present when wiping.

I'd appreciate it if you could share you experience, both positive and negative.

Thank you.

I have had spotting since the beginning (now 8 weeks and had a scan)
however it has only ever lasted a few wipes on the days it's occurred .

lots of people have it and it's fine but I think always best to get to gp and see if you can be referred to EPU for extra checks or possibly hcg level checks to see it's rising correctly 🤗

Bizjustgotreal · 06/07/2023 13:47

Thank you. I've got bright red now though. Not looking great.

@Bizjustgotreal try and get checked as it could just be a heamatoma (don't know how to spell it!) but a lot of women seem to have this too. Is there heavy cramping?

praying for you x

Miekle · 06/07/2023 14:04

Mild cramping (paracetamol cures it level) is normal at this stage anyway. Stretching uterus causes it.

The bleeding can be okay, or not. Best to give EPU a call and see whether they want to see you. Seven weeks is prime ectopic territory, so while that's unlikely it is worth keeping in mind.

Good luck x

Bizjustgotreal · 06/07/2023 14:47

Yeah it's proper bleeding now, as heavy as a period. I am optimistic but this is my second pregnancy, so I'm a little dubious about uterine stretching. I think this might be a 'better luck next time' scenario. Trying not to cry at work is not fun though haha

Just waiting for EPU to call back

I've had cramps week 5 to week 8 during all my pregnancies, so definitely not just the first it happens with.
Hope all turns out well for you OP.

Whatever the outcome, you will get through it.

Bizjustgotreal · 06/07/2023 19:52

Thanks for the kind words all and for telling me your experiences.

@Bizjustgotreal Hope you're ok and you get sine reassurance soon

costacoughee · 06/07/2023 21:49

I had this. Baby was fine. I think it's implantation causing some blood to dislodge. ?

Bizjustgotreal · 07/07/2023 06:44

I'm fine thanks. I'm convinced that I've had an early miscarriage now. Woke up and cramps seem to have stopped, and the bleeding has reduced too. These things happen, and I feel a bit daft that I was as upset as I was as it was only 7 weeks along. I'll see what EPU say when they call back.
Thanks all!

It's does sound like that's a possibility, but I would think there's a chance the bleeding had another cause. It's really hard treading that line between hope and realism isn't it.
At 7 weeks a scan should give you answers, so hopefully the epu will offer you that.

Jolayla · 08/07/2023 09:55

Ive had 2 early miscarriages at 6 and 7 weeks. And bleeding was heavy but also the cramps was very painful too was agony. I called 111 and they advived me to go hospital staight you will be offered a scan from 6 weeks by them. But please try not to worry to much as hard as it seems my sister had a heavy bleed early on and she continued to have a healthy pregnancy. Hope all goes well for you. Xx

Bizjustgotreal · 08/07/2023 13:02

Thank you - still not heard from EPU, so I'll be giving my GP a call on Monday to discuss. Still bleeding. Family history of miscarriage, but with successful pregnancies dotted in. I feel fairly certain that it's an MC but would like to have some way of knowing for sure.

Are you still bleeding OP? I'm in a similar situation but only 5 weeks so can't be scanned until 6... have bad cramps and blood when I wipe.

Wishing you all the best xx

Bizjustgotreal · 08/07/2023 14:53

Yup, still bleeding. This is my life now haha 😂
Bless you, wishing you all the best.

So finally got through to EPU today and had an internal scan on the same day. The scan showed no sign of pregnancy.

Discussing with the doctor, they referred to it as a 'pregnancy of unknown location'. Now it's the blood test HCG waiting game.

Miekle · 10/07/2023 19:15

I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you are okay, and it's sorted out quickly without complications xx

CR7 · 10/07/2023 22:17

How are you today @Bizjustgotreal xx

Bizjustgotreal · 11/07/2023 07:34

I'm good tah CR7! Just waiting for the call today for the results of my HCG blood test. Hope you're keeping well yourself.

Just putting an update as I know people read these threads when going through similar.

Initial blood test was low double digits (in the 20s) and the second test was in the low teens. Been told to come for a third test to make sure it keeps going in that direction. Looks like it's been a miscarriage, which is a relief as I will likely not need any further treatment and can move along.

@Bizjustgotreal so sorry youv experienced this. Please take good care of yourself love 🙏

Bizjustgotreal · 14/07/2023 06:41

Thank you - I'm taking very good care of myself. While it's been disappointing to MC, on the other hand, I have 1 DC and no reason to believe I won't have more. These things happen, and I'm grateful that the EPU are taking all the steps they can to ensure that nothing more serious has occurred.
