Massage gun worries!?

I'm 11 and a half weeks pregnant and have a really horrible cold and when I get a cold my chronic sinusitis flares up (which I can no longer take meds for because pregnant!). Sometimes shoulder massage relieves the symptoms a bit so I used my massage gun on my shoulders but then remembered that that might not be ok. :/ I looked it up and have found a load of articles saying have no kinds of massage at all during the 1st trimester so now I'm freaking out that I've damaged my baby. Please does anyone have any experience where they've used a massage gun and been ok? I'm getting so sick and tired of doing something and then finding out I shouldn't have done it and spending the next week worrying and waiting for something to go wrong. I feel like I can't do right for doing wrong. It's my first and I'm trying to stay safe and healthy but keep finding out about new things I can't do. :(

Honestly you’ll be fine. I’ve stopped googling - if you believed everything on there, you’d never get out of bed!

I'm 33w now and I'm still using massage gun on my legs and bums. Earlier in pregnancy I asked my partner to massage my upper back too. I don't see how it can affect the baby if you avoid lower back / abdomen in earlier weeks.

Honestly, stop googling things and you’ll be much more relaxed.

You’ll be totally fine

@Elz1406 i think its more because beauty therapists dont want to be accused of causing miscarriages because they happen more commonly in the first 12 weeks, i think its purely to cover their backs and not anything to do with not being safe. You also didnt do your lower back. Hope you feel better soon

As long as you're not hammering the massage gun into your uterus you'll be grand

I have scoliosis and get really sore back muscles from it. Pregnancy made it worse, occasionally throughout pregnancy I used my massage gun for 5 minutes to help relieve the pain a little. Baby is now 5!

Massage therapists and many other therapists are told not to treat before 12 weeks as miscarriage is more common in this time and it takes the blame away from the therapists if you had a massage in the first trimester and miscarried afterwards. There's really no harm in massage in this time and if you find it beneficial, then go for it!

My husband is an Osteopath and he's treated me from the beginning with both of my pregnancies- both with sports and deep tissue massage techniques, massage gun on my glutes when my hips have been tight, etc. I've had one very healthy and calm DC and currently 18 weeks with DC2.

Thanks everyone - I took your advice and just stopped looking at it. Then remembered that early on I was reading an article about how sex is safe in pregnancy and how even using a vibrator can be safe. 😂Don't know all the facts of that but puts a massage gun to the shoulders into perspective!

Exactly!

Massage during pregnancy is actually very beneficial.
I do pregnancy massages to clients but generally avoid the first trimester.Though can still do if it's only gentle, for relaxation or sensual.
