Early pregnancy dated 2 days early - worried

Hi there all

quick background - had my DD in 2019.. all is well, she is now 4 and a little darling.
Since then had 3 chemical pregnancies (didn’t get past 5 weeks)

I am now 7+1 today according to my app. Although went EPU today and was told I am 6+6 which has worried me! There is a heartbeat and I went at 5+4 and there was no heartbeat only a yolk sac so things have definitely improved, but they noted at my 5+4 scan that I was exactly that (infact I think I had me down as 5+3 so they actually added a day) but now they have put me two days behind.

they also mentioned a small bleed but told me nothing to worry about usually?

I am sooo worried. Any advice / comments?

thanks xx

I should make that clearer sorry:

5+3- yolk sac - no HB (measured 5+4) transvaginal scan
6+4 - strong heartbeat - (measured bang on) private abdominal scan
7+1 - heartbeat (didn’t say it wasn’t strong but didn’t say it was just said baby looked fine) - transvaginal - measuring 6+6

on last scan mentioned a small bleed but said usually no concern?

You can't really expect a heart beat until 6.5 weeks so I don't think the first scan was anything to worry about I think the difference in days early on is a fraction of a mm. Measuring 2 days behind is absolutely fine, it's great they saw a heart beat. I am doing regular scans with ultrasound direct can you book one in about a week for reassurance if EPU won't follow you up again?

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 18:54

@Gardenlady543 yes I am definitely going to book another scan in. I know they can be expensive but EPU don’t seem keen to scan me again and discharged me! I know we are all anxious and they can’t scan everyone always but I was surprised seen as I’ve had 3 miscarriages.

@Positive91 it costs £75 at ultrasound direct and they have a lot of clinics in the UK. I've been going weekly!

JD90 · 26/06/2023 19:11

At this stage it is almost impossible to get an exact correct date as bub is so small. I had 2 early Scans for various reasons and the dates changed both times, first earlier at 5+3 when I was 'supposed' to be 6+1 then 8+3 when I thought I was 8+1 and then again at 12 week scan expecting 12+6 and was actually 13+2. The 12 week scan is the date that will be used for your EDD as that's when they can start to measure more accurately. :) try not to worry it's totally normal!

Hello,

I am measuring 1 week 5 days behind what I should be based on the first day of my last period. No one has raised any concerns about it so far and I’m now 17+1 weeks

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 19:29

Thanks for your responses.

@Gardenlady543 £75 seems excessive. Private scans by me are £40!

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 19:30

@joannem87 were you always behind?

I had 2 scans where there was no baby because I was so early. 3rd scan I had showed baby and heartbeat and they measured me then to be 6 weeks pregnant. From that scan to my actual dating scan at 13 weeks, it changed by 1 day

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 19:49

Yeah I’m probably over reacting. It’s only 2 days. I think it’s because she didn’t say anything like “nice strong heartbeat” today or anything and then mentioned the bleed. But then told me I don’t need to be concerned and then discharged me!

I’m also super paranoid because with my DD I was violently vomiting from 6 weeks and this time nothing! I know I am crazy and should be happy about this! But I can’t help thinking the worst all of the time. I know I have to stop. This anxiety isn’t good! X

I’ve had four healthy babies, all had their dates jumping all over the place. I knew when I’d conceived two and they were still wrong.

The dates are hard to do when it’s so small, and if they’re doing it from your last period (rather than actually how old the embryo is) they’re guessing when you ovulated too.

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 20:13

@ChequeredPastel thank you!

anyone had these small bleed before? I’ve heard this is common?

OP posts:
ChequeredPastel · 26/06/2023 20:20

I never bled but I know many of my friends did

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 20:21

@ChequeredPastel i haven’t actually bled they have just mentioned a small bleed in the pregnancy sack?

Greentree1 · 26/06/2023 20:27

Just try to relax, there is nothing you can do and it's very early, they are saying everything is OK so just believe it, stress is the last thing you need.

CheekyHusky · 26/06/2023 20:28

As you have a small bleed and 3 miscarriages, I would push for progesterone suppositories from the EPU and advice on whether you should be taking aspirin or not.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Sometimes early losses/chemicals can be due to thyroid imbalance.

I hope all is well.

CC222 · 26/06/2023 20:30

It's totally normal for the dating ti be out with early scans, and change for each one.
Baby has a heartbeat, that's the best possible news at this stage.
Try not overthink the dating just yet, will all become clearer at the 12 week dating scan.
Congratulations and good luck 💕

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 20:31

@CheekyHusky thanks - so they told me today about a low dose aspirin but I wasn’t sure after doing some research?

I had my thyroid and all hormone related bloods done and all was normal which I presume is why I’ve been able to try again as normal and luckily this is the furthest I have got bar my dd who is now 4.

it is not helping that with my dd I was so unwell and felt pregnant but with this baby I only have sore boobs really but other than that not a lot. I’m sure I am overthinking and need to stay positive as @Greentree1 suggests x

I measured a full week behind at 6.5 weeks. I knew my dates so I was concerned. By 10+4 (which I knew should be more like 11+4) I had "caught up" by a full week when I went for a private scan and it remained more accurate when I attended my 12 week NHS scan.

PickledScrump · 26/06/2023 21:05

At my 12 week scan with my first I measured 2 weeks behind which meant I would have conceived around the time I got my positive which is obviously impossible. She’s 12 next week. In the early weeks they are literally measuring in mms and different sonographers and machines can get different measurements. That’s why nhs only date from around 12 weeks as it’s too inaccurate.

Blue2020 · 26/06/2023 21:22

I had a private scan at 9+1 and got put back to 8+5. Caused a bit of anxiety due to a previous miscarriage but they said up to 5 days is fine. By the nhs scan at 13+3 the put me ahead to 13+5. I measured ovulation opk/bbt to know rather than lmp.
Try not to worry about two days when it’s so small. A heartbeat is a good sign.

Positive91 · 26/06/2023 21:28

Thanks all, definitely reassured me a little. Until tomorrow 🤣🤣

Things are so small at 7 weeks even if it's only a few mm's different the day changes. I had a scan at 7+3 and measured 6+5. I've just had my 12 week scan at 12+3 and the measurements varied from 12+2 to 12+6.

RordonGamsey · 26/06/2023 22:59

I thought I was 7+1. Early private scan put me at 6+1. Which worried me. Then when I went for my 12 week scan with the nhs and I measured something like 12+5. So I was pretty much back at my predicted due date going by missed period.
I think when its so early it can be difficult to date accurately.
I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and all is well!
