What does it mean when you get period pains? I'm 40 weeks tomorrow! They aren't back to back more like random ... but a little sore when they happen! Is this a good sign?

start of labour. Best of luck 😊

Sounds like labour is on the way to me. My three all started with dull period like cramps.

This is it! Things are getting going ready for labour. It could still be days and days yet though.

Good luck for when it happens! I look forward to an update over the next week or so. 👶🥰

How soon after they started did you go into labour with your children? X

I have a sweep today so I'm hoping I'm at least 1cm dilated for the sweep to be possible! Fingers crossed xx

Congratulations! The pains will slowly get worse as it progresses. It might take a day or two.

I remember waking up early one morning at 40+2 with DS1 thinking "Oh I've got period pain. That's weird, why have I got period pains when I'm pregnant" - he was born by tea time 😁 Good luck - hope this is it and you meet your baby soon!

Actually my first started with waters breaking and born 3 days later. My second started with cramps and born about 14 hours later and third I was awoken by cramps at 6am and born at 1pm.

But varies so much, it’s a bit how long is a piece of string. Good luck and try to rest whilst you can (easier said than done when you’re excited!)

Aww baby was ready to come! I haven't had any more pains for the last hour so maybe it's slowww labour! 3rd baby so you'd think I remember all this stuff 😂 & thank you! Xx

You might not need the sweep - sounds like your body is going into labour already
With my first I had some contractions a few hours before I got to pushing stage. Relatively mild but ramped up. If you find they're every 4 mins get to hospital

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 23/06/2023 08:10

I started to have full period pains, very slight that were sorted with paracetamol (which meant I could get sleep as it was 5 am). I gave birth 13 hours later

JD90 · 23/06/2023 10:53

Can only echo what everyone else has said, typically a sign of early labour. I had them for 3-4 days before I was induced (for other reasons)
