What week did your pregnancy sickness start?

Just curious to know what week your sickness and nausea started?

With my DD1, I had terrible sickness from 5 weeks til about 16 weeks.

I'm now pregnant at 8 weeks and only really mild nausea. Have I got away with it this time or can I expect it to rear its ugly head soon?

Mine has been different each time!
Dc1 started at 5 weeks, severe (vomiting 8-10 times a day) and lasted the full 38 weeks I was pregnant!
Dc2 started a little later, around 7 weeks wasn’t quite as severe and went until around 24 weeks.
Dc3, started around 6 weeks and again went until he was born. Sick every day but only once or twice.
Dc4 started around 7 weeks and is still ongoing at 37, I am hoping he arrives soon! Mostly nausea this time but still with vomiting!

I hope you manage to avoid really bad “morning” sickness!! It’s much harder with other Dc to juggle too! I found eating little and often helped with nausea, as soon as my tummy was empty it was game over! Best of luck!

It didn’t! Only felt slightly car sick around week 8 (but it was warm as well) and that’s it.

5childrenand · 17/06/2023 09:23

4 weeks both times and lasted through the whole pregnancy. Worse the second time.

ohfook · 17/06/2023 09:26

First pregnancy- didn't get any
Second very mild from about week 8
Third week 6
Fourth almost immediately
Fifth week 6 but still going strong well into 2nd trimester.

Not sure if it makes a difference but 3 and 4 ended in miscarriage. 1 and 2 were successful and 5 is currently still going strong.

I haven't had any morning sickness. Midwife did say at my booking appointment that if by 8 weeks there was no sickness its likely you won't be. Hopefully you've avoided it.

Inmydreams88 · 17/06/2023 10:12

First pregnancy here and the nausea started around 5 weeks, sickness around 6 weeks.
Currently 11 weeks and still suffering.

First pregnancy didn't get sick until 25 weeks - and that was only due to heartburn.

This pregnancy sick as a dog until 16 weeks.

user50316 · 17/06/2023 10:25

Both times about week 6. With DD1 it lasted until about week 14, bar the odd occasion when I got overtired or stressed.
But DD2, it was week 28 and even then I felt nauseous on the odd day.

Cotswoldmama · 17/06/2023 10:38

With my first bang on 6 weeks until about 10 weeks. With my second none at al, both boys.

CR7 · 17/06/2023 11:29

@geoj43 10+2 with my first and not had any nausea or morning sickness x

Blue2020 · 17/06/2023 14:11

It was about weeks 7-14 when I had sickness.

Lcb123 · 17/06/2023 14:29

I’m 4 weeks and had nausea for a week already. But manageable, mostly just by eating..

WeWereInParis · 17/06/2023 14:34

I have a bad fear of vomiting so read a lot about morning sickness when I was pregnant.

I read a meta analysis of lots of studies and they found that, if you are going to get any nausea/vomiting (and only 2/3 of women will), then in 90% of cases you will start to get symptoms by the time you hit 8 weeks. And the peak of symptoms is weeks 9-10. So you might not get any this time round!

doeandfawn · 17/06/2023 17:16

Mine kicked in at 9w3 and didn’t leave until I was 16 weeks. Thought I was free but it came back this week (20w5).

Janey3090 · 17/06/2023 19:01

Mine was bang on 7 weeks, luckily it wasn’t too bad mainly just evening nausea and was gone by 13 weeks! X

Wenfy · 17/06/2023 19:02

16 weeks with both. Then I had it up to their births

Bookendortwo · 17/06/2023 19:12

Singleton and twin pregnancy nausea at 4 1/2 weeks and vomiting by 5 weeks and stopped the minute I gave birth.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 17/06/2023 19:14

It didn’t - 3 pregnancies, no sickness. Fingers crossed op!

MummyJ36 · 17/06/2023 20:04

DC1 from week 6 to week 12 I felt very nauseous. Turned a corner at 12 weeks and it gradually improved every day. However I was lucky (didn’t realise it at the time) that most days by about 3pm the worst had tapered off so I at least felt human for part of the day.

DC2 started week 6 again but lasted until week 16 before I felt close human again. This time nauseous ALL day. Way worse than first time and the smell of anything became unbearable. Most notably the kind of tea my DH likes to drink and anything with onion in it. I dry wretched loads too second time around.

With both pregnancies I was never once physically sick but the nausea, particularly second time around, was like the worst seasickness / travel sickness ever. Even though it lasted longer with DC2 I was still pretty much fully over it by the second trimester. I just had crippling SPD to deal with after that!

Giselletheunicorn · 17/06/2023 20:12

About 8 weeks to 13 weeks.

Tigger1895 · 17/06/2023 20:21

I sailed tru the first 12 weeks on my 3, and then died for the next 28 weeks.

Nelbert19 · 17/06/2023 20:29

I had hyperemesis with my first for weeks 6 - 16. Absolutely miserable.

really really hoping not to go through that again but I’m currently about 4 weeks and feeling queasy today - hopefully just my mind playing tricks because I thought it’d be too early for pregnancy sickness now!

wildflowerlove · 17/06/2023 20:31

I didn't.
Twin pregnancy.
