Soy sauce in pregnancy.

Hi. I should be almost 13 weeks pregnant. Just added a fair amount of soy sauce in my salad along with vinegar. Don't know, it sounded right. Might have used the combination few times before in pregnancy.

Then I read that soy sauce should be avoided in pregnancy because of monosodium glutamate and alcohol 😳😳. Checked the bottle and it says it contains white wine but nothing about alcohol. I'll take it of my list. But should I worry or am I just being crazy?

I wouldn't have given it a seconds thought. I believe you'll be entirely fine.

For what it's worth, most of the food exclusions in pregnancy aren't rooted in proven science - and a lot of them vary by country! I believe it's common in France to eat soft cheese all the way through.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

Stick to the NHS advice on food. There's a lot of dubious information out there and also information meant for people in other countries with totally different food standards. Soy sauce wouldn't even be on my radar of things not to eat.

Soy sauce is fine to eat in pregnancy.

Literally millions of Chinese women can't be wrong!

MSG is now on the banned list? When did that happen?

I wouldn't worry unless you drank a litre bottle TBH.

The NHS says nothing about soy sauce. Stick to NHS and don't Google anything else!

Thanks all. I'll dojust that.
