Bolognese Craving

Ok, first actual post and I’ve put it here because I genuinely don’t know where it belongs.
I’ve never liked anything with minced meat (also never been much of a red meat person) - the only way I’ve been able to eat bolognese/chilli has been to have soy mince. Smell/appearance etc has always been massively off putting - I was veggie vegan for years in my early 20s which is a while back now. Diet etc otherwise hasn’t changed.
The last 6-8 weeks I cannot get enough of beef bolognese. M&S stuff from a jar - on pasta or straight from the jar (cold - I mean I’m disgusted with myself) I’ve been eating it in secret. I made 4kg of bolognese sauce in my slow cooker with actual meat. And ate it all. It’s any excuse. I wanted to eat the raw steak in the fridge.

I’ve always been a fish person and currently can’t stand the taste or texture of things I previously loved. My partner bought me mussels last week and I ran away and threw up when they were put in front of me. I’ve been the person doing all you can eat mussels previously.

I’m exhausted, I’ve rapidly put on weight I’m struggling to lose and all I can think of is bolognese. I’m mid 30s. Tests have come up negative but it wouldn’t be the first time and it’s not out of the realms of possibility.

I’m literally googling places with an all night shop that I can get a jar of the M&S bolognese and eat it to myself. I feel like I’m losing my mind.

Either I’m losing it and deficient as hell in something or (dare I think it) I am? I just need to scream this because I’ve never had this kind of compulsion before.

Go right ahead and tell me I’m a crazy bolognese freak/delusional.

Thanks everyone - pregnancy not confirmed - craving related mania probably. Posted here as my deranged, bolognese crazed mind brought this channel up when I searched for “batshit mad cravings”. Basically I’m having strong cravings for a very specific couple of things I normally wouldn’t touch and have gone off certain other foods that I’d usually crawl over hot coals for. Other peculiar body things too and no lifestyle change that would normally explain it e.g. I’ve not taken up marathon running or an obvious illness. If anything, work has been relatively relaxed recently. Even DP has commented on my appetite/taste changes and it’s not the sort of thing he’d usually clock.

I’ve had an iffy cycle previously hence wondering about the possibility of (and it is possible) - OTC tests have been negative so I’ve made an appointment with the docs (got to wait a few weeks as it doesn’t class as an emergency).

Whatever will be.

I’ll keep scoffing the good stuff (whatever the cause is - a good homemade bolognese is not the worst thing I could be eating), get some exercise and keep my worry levels to a minimum - if anyone has a good recipe to whack in my slow cooker then get it posted up and I’ll love you forever.

Thank you everyone though, I really appreciate all the posts. Once I know what it is, I’ll be sure to post an update so I’m not forever known as the bolognese crazed cat lady. (Although I can think of worse things to be called).

Dunno about anyone else but this thread has me craving a bolognese! (19 weeks pregnant, under no illusions as to why I need the iron 😆)

Yep same, 30 weeks here and I'm going to need to make/find some bolognese today!!

If you’re pregnant (assuming you are based on where you’ve posted?) I wouldn’t worry too much. I craved beer when I was pregnant with DC! Insane, I never drink beer or ale or anything like that but I ended up having one non alcoholic beer every week or so to give in to my craving. Once DS was born it went away instantly! Pregnancy does weird things to you. With both DC I have detested the smell and taste of coffee and yet day to day I could happily drink multiple cups.

I do agree if it is getting out of hand maybe get tested for anemia but honestly, craving red meat is not unusual when growing a baby.
