Has anyone had a NIPT through the NHS after their 12 week scan? If so, how long did it take to get your results?

I have. Did the test on the Friday, received results on the Tuesday.

I imagine you’ve already done this, but if you search here for NIPT you’ll find lots of reassuring stories from others who have been in your position.

Good luck x

Hi, was yours via the NHS?

We had one, the nipt came back within a week and we hit a bank holiday weekend. I had a similar chance 1 in 149 and my baby boy was born yesterday absolutely fine if that makes you breathe any easier x

@letstal Yes, NHS test. Our odds were 1/37 and NIPT came back clear.

Thank you all. When your NIPT came back, did you 100% trust it or did you still have a doubt in your mind?

The NIPT checks your blood for DNA markers of Down's syndrome, as your baby's blood is mixed with your blood. Given that they didn't find any DNA suggesting either of us had Down's, and the average/low soft markers (Nuchal translucency, appearance of baby's face in scan photos) I didn't worry after receiving results.

You have been flagged for extra testing based on probability, but not based on your own medical reality or the health of your child.
