3rd pregnancy 38 weeks

(youd think I’d be an expert by now)

had a few “moving down pains” but nothing terrible, bump keeps tightening so so much, nothing like Braxton hicks I’ve had before seem quite strong, but no pain. been having it for about 3 hours on and off so would have expected it to stop by now! If there’s no pain they can’t be contractions can they?

I have had contractions with no pain before. A pulling sensation around the cervix that I definitely recognised as contractions from the time before which was very painful.

TheShellBeach · 28/05/2023 21:31

How often are they?

Vallmo47 · 28/05/2023 21:35

Sounds like Braxton Hicks to me- had that a lot more in my second pregnancy as body remembered and was practising for the big day (oh joy).

Def not regular but going to take more note of what I’m having when next time I have one. Maybe it’s just on my mind 🙈

I think you're probably having a long latent phase of labour and the ending will be rapid once it gets going.

LampHat · 28/05/2023 23:23

I got to 9cm with no pain, OP! That was a shock 😂 Good luck!

GAW19 · 28/05/2023 23:27

I was 38 weeks and went for a midwife appointment, they monitored me for something, it took them to tell me I was actually having contractions 😂 I couldn't feel a thing!
It turned out the contractions were being disguised by baby's movements so all I felt were her kicks haha

This terrifies me… I’m so scared I won’t get to the hospital in time 😂

I’m getting a bit of pain when the baby moves actually but just put it down to it being large and uncomfortable at this point! Who knows !!

im probably not helping as I painted my kitchen yesterday, needs another coat today I wonder if I can kick it off a bit more haha

MelissaD10 · 31/05/2023 17:30
