16 week appointment/ booking results?

Hello, first pregnancy here and i think I’ve turned into a massive worrier! I’ve been panicking about everything.

i had my booking bloods done 4 weeks ago and never heard anything..my 16 week appointment is next week. If they had found anything horrendous in those bloods, I guess they would have contacted me by now? Or would they tell me at the 16wk appointment
thanks

They don't let you know unless something is abnormal. You can ask for the results at any time but they will just let you know at the 16w app.

I give women a call if I see anything concerning, otherwise I give them at the 16 week appointment x

@UpUpUpU what happens at the 16 week appointment?

SillyOldBear3 · 24/05/2023 19:08

@mamabb91 I was told that if there was anything wrong they would let me know within 10 days of the tests. I didn't hear anything so then in my 16 week appointment my midwife just confirmed that all was fine and gave me the paper copy of my results.

As above - no news is good news, and at the 16w appointment they'll confirm everything came back at normal levels. I got a letter because my iron was low telling me to contact GP for tablets but that was it.

At the 16w appointment they'll do blood pressure, urine check, give you lots of information about what appointments you'll have, things to look out for, which numbers to call and when if there's a problem, ask how you'renfeeling etc and if you have any questions.

You might get to listen to the heartbeat with the Doppler but this depends on the trust/ midwife

Thanks all I feel reassured now! I have to get a cervical scan as I had a previous lletz to check the length so I am hoping I’ll get a glimpse of baby then too 😄

Theoretically yes if nothing is wrong they do not contact you, but they lost my samples for virals. I only found out at my 16 weeks midwife appointment and had to give blood again, luckily everything was fine.

Just spoke to midwife, she said they wont check heart at 16 weeks, they sometimes cant find it and it causes anxiety! i am thinking may book a private reassurance scan next week or so, no way i can wait 13 to 20 weeks to check baby ok

SillyOldBear3 · 25/05/2023 14:42

@38andtrying mine checked for me at 16 weeks, she offered and I wasn't expecting it. Ask her if it's possible, and say that otherwise you will definitely need to spend money on a reassurance scan.. as long as you are aware that sometimes they can't find the heartbeat 🤷‍♀️
