Faint positive but not sure

Hi all, I have pcos and recently came off of desogestrel as it wasn't working out for me. We weren't trying to get pregnant and had a slip up in mid-late April but I didn't think much of it.

Decided to do a test as I've had headaches, threw up in the middle of the night, randomly got thrush and my period is calculated as 10 days late

The line came up almost instantly but the top half of it seems darker than the rest. I've done some more throughout the day and nothing. Should I discount this? I've got digitals on the way

TIA 😊

I also had spotting around 2 weeks ago that went after a few days

That's very weak for ten days late, but it's a line. Maybe you ovulated later than you thought, if that's positive. I'd get a couple of other brands (including pink dye one) and retest.

One step are really faint at first. With a line this faint (if it’s not an evap) you may not get a positive on a digital even if pregnant as digitalis aren’t very sensitive unless you get the early detection digital. I would go for a pink dye test like a frer or boots early detection.

As you have pcos it could be that you ovulated a lot later than you thought so not 10 days late which could be why so faint. If you are 10 days late the line would be darker.

it’s hard to say really if it’s a positive or evap at the moment. Test with FMU on a different pink dye test as one steps aren’t the best early on especially if not first thing in morning. I know some people get evaps on one steps but I never did. The 3 cycles I had faint lines (to start with) I was pregnant.

Hi thanks for replying,

Forgive me but aren't evaps from when the test is old? These pictures were taken within a minute of doing the test so it was fresh as can be.

Yes my pcos does tend to kick things about a bit especially after coming off of the pill, I've only had 1 period since stopping it

Both my pregnancies have always been super faint at the start and with my second child I had extremely low hcg that took ages to build but my daughter is here to live the tale so it could easily be the same this time around.

I've got digitals on the way but I'll hold off if need be, I did another one step this morning and there was the faintest of lines that was very hard to catch on camera if at all. Maybe I just had a dodgy test yesterday, I'll find out soon enough I guess haha

Thanks for your reply! It's quite possible I ovulated late due to everything going on with my reproductive system. I did another pink dye this morning but it was very very faint. I'll try a digital but I'm leaning towards this positive test from yesterday, being a dodgy test 😅

Can you post the pink dye? If you've got history of weak tests, it could be the same this time around.

Sure but I don't think it shows very well at all from this morning. The test i took yesterday, was taken midday which from my history has always shown the strongest

Sorry if you can't see anything! Very faint like I said. In the close up it would be under the upside down 5 where I can see it

Evaps aren’t always after the timeframe. Some tests are dodgy and give an evap but they don’t tend to have colour. It’s too faint to see if there’s any colour. I know it’s really hard but I would wait a few days and test again to give it chance to give a more obvious line 😊

SophM96 · 23/05/2023 15:29

Ah right I see, well the pictures for yesterday's one might not do it justice but you could 100% see a line and it was very pink but today's barely had any colour at all.

I did a clear blue but it said negative so I've rang the doctors and asked for a blood test and my husband is convinced I'm pregnant haha
