Hi,

has anyone had experience of Princess Alexandra in Harlow or Broomfield in Chelmsford? I live in Loughton and trying to decide with hospital I’d like to go for!

any advice appreciated!

I had no issues with Broomfield (a 1 year old and a 3 week old) and neither did anyone I know. I only know one person who went to Harlow and she nearly died of medical negligence. So I would 100% go Broomfield!

Postnatal wasn't great at Broomfield though but I can't imagine it is in many places and I was out in 24 hours

I had both mine at Broomfield and no complaints. I live somewhere where the choices are Queens in Romford, Basildon and Broomfield and Broomfield has the best reputation out of the three.

I like Broomfield over PA but I’ve not had a terrible experience there either really, just always seems nicer, less hectic at Broomfield.

Also if you’re in Loughton, I have never heard a good story about Whipps. I know it’s not on your list but anyway…

Cant comment on what it's like giving birth as I'm due next month but we're with Broomfield and can't fault it so far. Every time we've been for a scan the sonographers have been so nice and took their time answering all our questions and telling us what we were looking at. Every midwife I have seen has been lovely so far too. Only thing I don't like is the parking spaces are so tight!

Thank you! I’ve read PAH and Broomfield are the best ones!

Parking is horrendous at both sites. I had amazing care in labour with DC1 and a flawless c section with dc2 at Harlow. Post natal care was dreadful but I've heard the same about Broomfield. All things being even, I think Harlow is a much shorter journey from Loughton so I'd go for that.

I had my first 2 at PAH, no problems but had my third at lister which is amazing....third child had life threatening illness that wasn't picked up after 4 admissions into PAH, my HV sent me to addenbrookes a&e who immediately diagnosed issue and he had open surgery at 6 weeks old, so my faith in PAH is no longer unfortunately but I appreciate that a&e and maternity departments are not one and the same. Just providing my personal experience x
