When did you get your “dye stealer”

We was TTC for a while and I was receiving ovulation induction treatment at a private clinic for 4 cycles which were all unsuccessful. We had our consultation to move onto IVF and decided to sit a cycle out to rest. I had a feeling I had ovulated on my own (never had before!) confirmed by LH tests. 12DPO got our first ever positive test, lines were faint but there! Digital came back 1-2 weeks. I have been testing multiple times a day since (don’t tell me to stop, I can’t!). The digital went from 2-3 weeks so I see that as a good sign. I’m now at 16DPO and although the line is darker than at 12DPO I feel like it’s not as dark as I would have hoped by now. It takes a while to show up across different brands (easy at home, clear blue, 1st response, Tesco cheapies) whereas others I have been speaking to, a dark line comes up right away by 16dpo. I use first morning pee for all tests.

Sorry for waffling but just wanted to set the scene. When did you all get your dye stealers? Looking for some reassurance!!

I probably have a photo of every test I’ve ever done, I used loads of different brands too🤣 18dpo for a proper dye stealer on first response, and easy@home was 20dpo, it wasn’t really that much darker than the control line but I ran out of tests after that 🤣

Just went back and looked at the photos I took of mine and it was 14dpo on an 'early detection test' and 20dpo on a 'normal' test.

Dye stealer? What odd terminology is this?

Hedgehugs · 21/05/2023 07:20

@Mommasgotabrandnewbag yep, where the test line steals lots of dye from the control line showing up dark or darker.

@astarielle @ChloeN @JD90 thanks for your replies. It’s reassuring to hear others say it was past 16DPO as all I was hearing was stories of people getting them at 14 DPO. I’m 17 DPO and just woke up this morning to my darkest lines yet so feeling a bit better about it now! This is my first pregnancy, after I had some fertility treatment and this was our rest cycle before starting IVF next month so it feels almost too good to be true!!
