Cat bit me and now I’m a mess

Don’t worry I’m not looking for medical advice - I’ve been seen.

Yesterday I was feeding a cat to help out my friend and the kitty was being very lovely but suddenly switched (as cats do) and bit me - hard - on the arm. It has made a deep puncture wound which is red and swollen. I’ve been given antibiotics as I went straight to the hospital.

I’m 25 weeks pregnant and I’m so terrified that this is it - that something horrible is going to happen to my baby because of infection. Google has some really terrifying stuff on there.

I’ve been crying on and off all day and just feel a complete nervous wreck ☹️ Don’t know what to do with myself.

Ahhh you'll be fine op. You got on antibiotics quickly so that will deal with any potential infection. Tbh when I got bit by my mums cat when pg I just put savlon and a plaster on it. I probably should have been slightly more concerned now I think about it 😂

Google is a knob OP! Cat scratch fever is a thing but as you've been seen and the wound has been dealt with, it's not a concern imo. Been scratched and bitten loads of times and have never got cat scratch fever (many cat owners have never had it actually). The thing to avoid is changing/cleaning litter as that does carry a significant risk, but a bite that's been tended to isn't in the same league. All will be fine x

Also totally normal to be crying afterwards, the shock and pain of being bitten coupled with the worry has done it. You'll be OK, look after yourself.

And yea fuck off Google 😂 I've actually been clinically dead about 5 times after googling my symptoms.

i remember one embarrassing time (in the middle of a health anxiety episode tbf) i demanded an emergency doc appointment for blood tests for a very rare condition I diagnosed myself with after google. Got humoured (as I was due a health MOT anyway). Tests came back fine and the diagnosis was my snoring was causing the 'deadly' symptoms 😳

Step away from Google. You have been seen by a healthcare professional. If they were worried, they would have said. Honestly, with all the things that Google says is dangerous in pregnancy, it is a miracle any of us were ever born. I'm 27 weeks. Congrats on your pregnancy!
