Safe way to test TENS before 37 weeks

Anyone know if there is a safe way to test a TENS machine before 37 weeks? I bought the Elle Tens 2 as I am 30 weeks now and wanted to start slowly buying things I needed for my labour bag. I don't need to test it in the sense of putting the electrode pads on, but just mean in terms of turning the little handheld device on and to be sure it is actually working. I realised after buying that I only have 30 days to return if there's an issue, and I'd be well past the return date if I wait until 37 weeks to switch the machine on. Kind of wishing I'd just waited a bit now...

Get DH/DP to try it?

They’re generally fairly safe to use during pregnancy so long as you follow the guidance on where you can’t put it.

Personally I’d probably get to DH to put it on to just check it works.

Just do it on your arm or something away from you torso. I'm a devotee of the tens machine. Use it for 40 hours in first pregnancy and still use it for back pain etc.

The instructions with mine say your forearm in pregnancy 😊

A little beside the point but I’d return it anyway and rent one. Lots of websites rent them for anywhere from 2-10 weeks. It’s so much cheaper especially as you have no idea how you will get on with it. I used it for all of 5 minutes before screaming for my DH to get it off (I found it unpleasant and it didn’t make a blind bit of difference in labour). If you rent one you know it’s in good working order too.
