i've put on 2 stone....and i'm surprised it's not been more since spd has left me practically immobile for months.

trouble is i felt a stone too heavy before this baby so will have lots to loose!!

MinnieMalone · 24/03/2010 08:11

2 stone is on the low side of normal (1.5-3.5 stone is average, I believe).

I put on 4 stone with my first and 2.5 stone with my second.

YanknCock · 24/03/2010 08:14

2 stone exactly. But I was aiming for 1 stone as I started off very very overweight.

The good news is, I lost all of it in two weeks after the birth!

I will second that reminder about not weighing yourself straight after--I had only lost 5lbs despite having an 8lb baby

I put 5 stones with the my first pregnancy, and still carrying 2 stones remaining. Given that I am overweight, I hope to gain only around 1 stone in my 2nd pregnancy. I am 8 weeks pregnant now.

I think that I put on around two stone with DD, but since I gave up weighing myself at 26 weeks and didn't weigh myself again until she was three months old, I couldn't be sure. By that second weighing, however, breastfeeding had apparently ensured I was down to my pre-pregnancy weight.

However, both then and now I was/am around a stone overweight (moving down south had been the trigger for that one). I'm hoping, therefore, that I don't put on quite as much this time such that I can get down to my pre-London weight if at all possible. Given that I don't feel much like eating so far this time round owing to MS, I think that may happen, although it's not really an active decision on my part since I miss enjoying my food!

I'm 25 weeks and have gained 1.5 stone so far. I wasn't overweight to begin with and the midwife has assured me that I'm doing just fine. My problem is that I'm nauseous ALL THE TIME and the only thing that helps is eating. So, although I don't eat massive portions I do eat a lots of carbs - bread, bagels, hot cross buns...as it's the only stuff I can stomach at the moment. I'm hoping that I'll start craving fruit and vegetables soon so that I don't exceed 3 stone for the entire pregnancy. Fingers crossed

I am 37 weeks and have put on exactly 1 stone - so pleased!! I put on 2 1/2 with my first baby, lost the lot straight away, then it crept back on. So second time around I was heavier than before my first.

Was worried I'd put on a good 2 1/2 stone again, but am amazed it's only 1 stone. I have eaten complete rubbish all the way through done zero exercise!!!

It's nice to know that when this baby is born I will be lighter than when I got pregnant, think it will give me a real boost in time for joining Weight Watchers!

I thought being a larger woman to start with (14 9) would mean I'd put on tonnes but no so if you too are a "larger" woman don't worry you may only put on a stone like me!!

All in all you've got to expect to put weight on during pregnancy you are afterall growing a little person inside you!!

Hi Ladies,

14 weeks with my first and I've put on 3kg which is about 7lbs. I'm in Cyprus and the doctor is pretty much obsessed with my weight, he says that I should put on no more than 12 kg (which is about 2 stone I think)throughtout the whole pregnany. Apparently, when the baby is born and I bf, I will be back to normal in 8 weeks . Not sure it will be that easy!
For the first 12 weeks, I couldn't put anything in my mouth unless it was a cream donut or chips but now the nausea has mostly gone, I can eat pretty much normally but I do need to snack often or I feel like I'm going to keel over! Need some suggestions apart from cheese sandwiches!

I'm 32 weeks and have put on about 2-2.5 stone. To be honest I hate it, I've always had quite an issue about my weight even though I was only 8.5stone pre pregnancy so mentally I'm finding it quite tough. Though obviously I know it's healthy for the baby, I don't like it

TheRedQueen · 24/03/2010 15:16

Nearly four stones - which was a bit of a shock as I weighed less than eight stones beforehand!

Chynah · 24/03/2010 18:07

17 Lbs with DS. Am currently 37 weeks and have put on 12 Lbs this time (I am a small person though).
