Early scans and tilted uterus

Hi Everyone,

Not sure why I'm writing this .. maybe to provide reassurance to some? But also ask for others experiences (for my own reassurances!).
Based on LMP I'm 8+2...based on the day we did the deed and when my app tells me was my highest fertile day it's 8+1. I booked an early scan to check for multiple pregnancy. When I got there, they spent a while on my belly and then showed me the screen where there was an empty sac and they said they couldn't find anything in it. I was so confused. He measured the sac and said it's 5+1 so I'm probably a lot earlier than I think and have my dates wrong. I said I understand a change in dates but 3 weeks?!
The person with the sonographer so my uterus is sooooo tilted, that before she does a referral to the hospital, how about trying to drink even more water because having my bladder completely fully will push my pelvis forward. So I did and they kindly took me back in 10 mins later.

At this point they found something inside the sac! Measuring at 5+4.... So I still felt so defeated because again it was so far behind the dates it'd be unlikely to survive (I thought). Second by second though things were becoming bigger and more visible, as my bladder filling it was pushing the uterus forward as expected and they then got the heartbeat and a measurement of 7+5!

So, I just wanted to share this experience, especially for anyone with a tilted uterus. Drink absolutely tons! Has anyone else had this experience and how did it work out?

They've offered a rescan in 2 weeks and I have my NHS one in 4 weeks so I can update this thread too if anyone would find it useful. Please pray and keep fingers crossed for a sticky bubba xxx

That’s crazy how different the measurements are! So pleased that baby was there with a heartbeat at the end☺️ I’ve got a tilted uterus (apparently, I was never told this at my early scans and the pictures were so clear! I saw the same private sonographer later in my pregnancy and she said it wasn’t tilted so I don’t really understand how that works🤣) At my 12 week they really struggled to get a good photo and then couldn’t date the pregnancy because the baby wouldn’t lay right! I had the opposite problem and my bladder being full actually made it worse! I had a rescan at 15 weeks and they said the baby was now big enough that having a tilted uterus doesn’t matter and all my scans since have been really clear! Xx

It's best to have an internal scan early on. I'm under a recurrent miscarriage clinic and all of mine so far (including one at 11 weeks) have been internal as it's just much easier to see and more accurate. The doctor still has to get me to put my fists under my bum and poke my tummy a bit to get the best views. I'm glad you persisted and got a much better measurement and to see the heartbeat too.
