Uti, sickness and anxiety

I need a good talking too I think guys. 16 weeks pregnant, 2nd uti of this pregnancy, put on antibiotics (was same bacteria as last time & they worked then - culture showed susceptibility). Taken 4 days as of now. Last night I was sick, then again today but 18 hours between. Back pain - possibly RLP or from vomiting. Don't think it's right placement for kidneys.

Doctor has given me anti sickness tablets, still got some uti symptoms, taking paracetamol & resting. I'm so full of anxiety it's killing me, constantly scared I'm going to lose the baby because of it. Doctor didn't seem worried - said call back on Monday & they'll see me. I think I'm just worried cos uti symptoms haven't improved and I'm being sick now so worried about not keeping fluids down. I know no one knows all will be ok - but I could do with some reassurance please if anyone has any. It's incredibly lonely and I'm so scared. Thanks xx

That sounds rough.

I had HG plus UTI however my temperature never rose with the UTI. Baby was all fine and now 5! My GP told me this time that if I had back pain or a temperature with the UTI then I should phone NHS24 over the weekend.

@TealDreams Are you sick after taking the tablets or does it seem unrelated? I always have to ask for a different antibiotic for utis because they make me sick everytime! I had a UTI at the start of the 2nd trimester and was so panicked I really struggled but it was all fine xx

@FarmBaby3 thank you. I don't have a temp and I think the back pain I have is due to growing baby, slipping and disk last year and being hunched over the loo! I feel a bit better today. Wee is still uncomfortable but I don't feel as unwell. If any worse I will call 111/go to A&e but fingers crossed the sickness wasn't connected to the uti!

I feel a bit better this morning so think the anti sickness tablets worked. I had the same ABX at 10 weeks for a uti and was ok then - so I wonder if they were so isolated illnesses but I just panicked. I'll see how I go today and if any worse I'll either ring 111 or go to A&e. Thanks x

Just be really strict with yourself about drinking little and often, make sure you don't let yourself go more than 10 minutes without having at least a few sips.

Hey, I had about 5 Utis with my pregnancy. I never got Utis outside of pregnancy but seemed to constantly be at the doctor's for them when I was!
One of them got to the point I had severe back pain and then was peeing out blood at 4am. I was convinced I was loosing the baby. Think I was about 24 weeks at the time, rushed to hospital but all was fine. UTI just got really bad without me knowing and antibiotics eventually cleared it up but no issues with baby and hes now nearly 5 😊

@Ttcmumma that's for that. I am no where near as poorly as you sounded. so glad everything turned out ok. Thankfully we have a private scan tomorrow to reassure me xx

If you are worried you could be sick from the infection another option would be to attend a walk in urgent care in your area. They would be likely to take bloods which would either give reassurance that you haven’t got a kidney infection or start treatment if you have. You’d also get an exam which would involve pressing on your kidneys. I’d be worried too I don’t think that’s unreasonable.

Thankfully I feel a lot better today other than I still have some uti symptoms. Sickness has stopped and I don't feel as unwell. I think the sickness was because of something else and not the uti x
