Hi.
I am almost 5 weeks pregnant and I'm craving sweets like crazy. I feel it's sooo hard to resist. Didn't yet see the doctor and was wondering how much is too much?
thank you

All the midwife said to me on that front is 'sugar makes a BIG baby' 😂 she told me to avoid fruit juice because it's broken down differently to the actual fruit. I almost wish I had a craving, don't want to eat a thing right now at 9 weeks!

Ohhhhh... this explains a lot. My last baby was 9lbs 8oz, thinking this one will be big too! 😂

Thanks.
@LuAndTheVanillaBean hope you get past this period soon.
I have not experienced many symptoms yet. Maybe just feeling a bit sleepy and cold. Really hoping things will go well with the pregnancy.

I am 37+4 and have felt like this my whole pregnancy! I had a sweet tooth before but it's somehow got even more extreme. I have eaten SO much fruit but also every single day I've had something (or sometimes more than one thing!) chocolatey too. I wouldn't stress about it too much - try to generally eat a balanced diet, aim for three meals a day, fruit, veg etc and it's fine to have something sweet on top. I've had a really healthy pregnancy, haven't gained too much weight, and my baby is in the 20th centile. Chat to your midwife if you're worried though :)

I have a real sweet tooth, not even pregnancy related but I definitely eat more sugar than I should. My baby was on the bigger side at 8lb 13oz but given that both me and his dad were big babies I'm sure that was just genetics, I mean his dad was a whooping 13lb 9oz at birth!

I pretty much are what I wanted during my last pregnancy and I'm doing the same with this one. Your cravings could change again next week so I wouldn't worry too much about a week of sweet stuff.
