Hi, a 29 week scan detected two tumours in my baby’s heart - we’ve been told this could indicate tuberous sclerosis. We are awaiting further investigations but naturally I have gone into a spiral and have been looking up anything and everything to do with this disease on the internet.

I’m devastated at the idea that our little boy might have a difficult life ahead of him and I’m so anxious about what it will mean for our future. I feel really hopeless and miserable right now and was hoping someone would itch experience of this disease (either sufferers or parents of) could offer me some positive outlook.

Hi,
I have been there. At 20 weeks my daughter was found to have a heart mass, we was referred to fetal medicine, confirmed the heart mass and is under in for tuberous sclerosis, she was delivered via c section and we was told she might not make it, as the mass was so big that and could restricted the flow but that was 3 years ago...
She is now a healthy 3 year old. She is still under investigation for tuberous sclerosis. The first year of her life was hectic... we had weekly heart scans... mri eye scans and a genetic test. Which came back negative but due to the heart mass they are still unsure of it being ts so that is still on going for now.

I know how you feel and it is such a awful time.. I couldn't talk to anyone about how I was feeling. I was so scared that she wouldn't make it... even in the first year I was scared. I gave up my job to care for her as I didn't trust anyone but honestly I should of relaxed if you see her now you wouldn't think she has this huge mass in her heart she is just like another child.

The first few years will be hetitc but it is all worth it. They are little miracle babies and they are little fighters.

If you need to rant I'm hear wishing you and your baby all the best...
