Oligohydramnios and small baby

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow. At 31+3 I had a well-being scan and they found oligohydramnios, my AFI was 4.8, and baby was measuring in the 14th centile. The OB mentioned it could be my placenta failing because it's those two things together.

At my last scan, 20 weeks, he was measuring a few days behind but generally normal. And my fluid was normal.

I'm basically just waiting now. They're going to do weekly scans and weekly CTG monitoring.

But I wanted to ask if anyone else has had this? What gestation were you diagnosed and when/how did you give birth?

Hi there,

I had this also. It was picked up around 30 weeks I think though I can’t remember what my measurements were then they kept a very close eye on me, think I had fortnightly/weekly growth scans. At 38 weeks they decided it was safest to get baby out so I was induced. My daughter was born on the 5th centile and perfect, she’s had no ongoing health issues at all.

it’s really stressful so sending best wishes. I’m sure they’ll keep a good eye on you.

best

Mine was picked up when I measured small for dates. Fluid amount was off the bottom of the chart. They also said I had 'lakes' in my placenta.

I had an extra scan or two and was monitored every few days for the baby's heartbeat. A plan was made for induction at 37 weeks, but I went into spontaneous labour at 36+4 anyway. Normal birth and DD1 was 6lb 7.

I put the early birth down to the fluid, but I had no similar problems with DD2 and she was born at 36 weeks, naturally, without induction too.
