Slimming world in pregnancy

Serial dieter here🙄 5+2 weeks pregnant and starting off my pregancy journey bigger than ive ever been with a BMI of 35. I am really scared of what this could mean for pregnancy and birth etc.

I would like to loose some weight, especially in these early days. I have been watching my calories and not eating until about 1 anyway due to nausea.

Would it be okay to join slimming world? I know its seen as the 'safe' option for preganancy and its worked well for me in the past. I do have mixed feelings about SW though in terms of diet culture etc but if it works I know I'd feel a lot more relaxed and more able to enjoy this pregnany.

Anyone had any experiences with this please?

Xxx

You’ve been watching calories and fasting

have you lost weight?

what’s your movement like?

Chip131 · 20/03/2023 07:21

It has only been a week, maybe a pound or two!
Movement could be better, I do the odd walk and thats about it! Hoping to get back to the gym and do yoga, swimming and pilates xx

Rather than SW

what about using this as an opp to make long term lifestyle changes?

so movement every single day and ramp it up. Longer walks, then swimming eyc.

What is your diet like after 1pm

and please please don’t fall in to the trap of thinking you’re “eating for 2”. You categorically are not.

Thank you! I have been an avid gym goer previously (spin, body pump etc) but your probably right that baby steps are needed.
So this last week due to feeling so sick lunch has been marmite on toast, then a 'normalish' meal like strifry, chicken, veg and sweet potato fries, spag bol..
The odd ginger biscuit too. Yestetday was terrible food wise as we had a mother's day buffet.
I have a half decent social life which tends to revolve around food - thats definitely where I let myself down!
