GROWTH SCAN - 34+6 - CONFUSED/CONCERNED

Hello

i had a growth scan undertaken today due to reduced fetal movement. I was advised baby is 5lb8oz and has fallen off his normal growth line which concerned me. They want to scan again 2 weeks today.

when I got home and checked my notes, my last growth scan at 31+5 had the head and abdominal circumference as measuring bigger than today?

at 31+5 it was as follows:

HC 302mm
AC 292mm
FL 61mm
weight 4lb8oz
deepest vertical pool - 7cm

34+6:

HC 230mm
AC 203mm
FL 66mm
Weight 5lb 8oz
deepest vertical pool - 2.8cm

Surely the measurement of HC at least can’t get smaller? And worried that I had an episode of suspected rupture of membranes which they confirmed to be negative but seem to have lost over 4cm of fluid? Is this normal?

I will ring antenatal in the morning in the hope of speaking with someone but so confused right now x

Yeah I would definitely ring and speak to them. It sounds like someone has measured wrong. Obviously different sonographers/machines may measure slightly different but that seems a bit much. As you say HC shouldn’t have gone smaller.

all of them have bigger AC & HC than today! Surely not right is it 🙈 xx

Sounds like a mistake on either the first or second scan. Could be that it was from the first scan or was a machine error.. I think they usually wait a week to rescan but it might mean you could get back in in a week instead of 2. Hopefully it’s nothing

@Rainbowchasing2022 thats definitely not right. I’ve never known a baby shrink. I’d ring midwife tomorrow and mention that you think it’s incorrect.

@GHxx i hope so. If it was just the one previous scan but I’ve looked back at the last 3 and they’re all bigger! Seems so odd

@Twoinapod i will definitely call and ask. Otherwise I will book private in between for piece of mind but shouldn’t have to really 🙈 of it was just the AC I think I’d panic and think he must have lost weight but surely a skull can’t shrink dx
