Second pregnancy - opposite symptoms?

I'm 6+5 with #2

With DD I was permanently nauseous from 4 weeks and utterly exhausted too.

This time round I wouldn't even guess I was pregnant except for the test telling me! No nausea, and actually feel full of energy. To the extent it's worrying me a little bit and I'm considering a private early scan.

I know lots of people are lucky enough to have zero symptoms, but anyone else had such different symptoms between pregnancies? All been fine?

I am nearly 8 weeks I had an early scan with heartbeat , I feel so nauseated and exhausted . With my DD i had felt no where near as bad so i’m really surprised how awful i feel this time .

Hi!

I didn’t want to read and run, but my sister has had 5 children and not 1 pregnancy has been the same. She actually had zero symptoms with her first DD, and a lovely easy ride. Yet when pregnant with her DS 2 years later she was floored with sickness and spent most of the time on the toilet! She couldn’t even get in a car without being sick lol.

I’m currently 10 weeks with my first baby and had an early scan at 7+6 (due to an IVF pregnancy but it was such a lovely early reassurance) and I have had not many symptoms at all and didn’t start feeling nauseous until week 7/8, which died down week 9 and came back yesterday! But again, feeling fine today.

I think pregnancy symptoms are so up and down and you just cannot compare any pregnancy 💞 I know it’s easier said than done, but if you are worried, get yourself an early scan - I will however say though, it only helps for around 2/3 days and I start feeling anxious again lol!! Oh the joys haha x

I've had a complete roller coaster of symptoms - 6 weeks tomorrow.

Cramps, insomnia, overheating, boobs sore, exhausted, constipated, needing the loo a lot, nausea etc. But they seem to be taking turns rather than being constant. I get a bit worried about symptoms disappearing, but it's rare that I don't have at least one on the go.

I'm just going to treat it as the signs of loss are severe cramps and bleeding. I haven't had either of those, so I'll try not to worry about the rest of my body dicking about.

My first 2 pregnancies were very similar in terms of symptoms & I was sick once with both I think, almost no nausea (same sex). My 3rd was totally different, sick until about 14 weeks & it really ran me down (different sex). So for me it wasn't anything to worry about, just seems to be my body reacted differently between boy/girl. I hope all goes well, congratulations x

I'm on my 3rd pregnancy, all very different symptoms. My first was a breeze, mild nausea from 5-11 weeks then sailed through the rest of the pregnancy. Second was a nightmare awful nausea till 20 weeks and awful back/leg pain for the remaining 20 weeks. my third has probably been my easiest pregnancy, had mild nausea for a few weeks, I am very tired though. I've heard that a change in gender can worsen symptoms, I think this is why my second was worse because I went from girl to boy, don't know what this one is yet

Twoinapod · 01/03/2023 14:25

My two were completely different. I was convinced my second was a boy as it was so different but nope both girls

Thanks everyone - I know deep down the rational answer is that of course every pregnancy is different! It's so hard to be rational about things especially at this early stage but I know odds are in my favour. At least this time I've got a toddler to run around after as a distraction, I've already noticed the weeks seem to be passing faster. 6 down.....34 to go 😂

I had zero symptoms with DC2 until near the end of the first trimester. Only then did the nausea kick in. Even then it was only mild compared to DC1 (which also wasn't that bad). I had no cravings or food aversions either.

What was different was an overwhelming, crushing fatigue with DC2 that was kind of there from the start, but properly kicked in around 10 weeks. Also, I got heartburn and severe rib pain, which I do not remember having at all with DC1. DC2 was bree

DC1 was a girl, and DC2 a boy.

No symptoms with DD1, awful hair, bad skin etc, horrendous nausea with DD2, amazing hair, great skin

Hi
Looking for your stories for peace of mind.
I had a missed miscarriage in September, went for 12 week scan to find baby stopped developing at 6 weeks. Found out I was pregnant 3 weeks ago and I should be 6 weeks 3 days. This is my 5th pregnancy, only 1 has resulted in a live birth. And every pregnancy I have nausea and vomiting by now as well as tender breasts. However I have absolutely no symptoms. I’ve booked an early reassurance scan this Sunday but my anxiety is through the roof.
Has anyone experienced multiple pregnancies and the symptoms been different?
Thanks in advance

I've known a couple of people who had utterly opposite symptoms. All was fine. (One had a baby of different sex, the other the same sex, just in case you're wondering!)
