NHS worker on Maternity - pregnant again

Hi everyone.

I would be really grateful for some advice & to find out if anyone has any personal experience with this…

I am currently on maternity leave with my 4 month old son. I am an NHS worker band 5 and receiving OMP spread over 12 months and SMP. I actually got a new job (band 6) in January and due to start back from maternity a little earlier in August so they are adjusting my maternity pay I believe.

However, I have just found out I am pregnant again, Due in November. Will I still be entitled to maternity pay even if I don’t manage to get 12 weeks back to work in? Also, if I am entitled to maternity pay again later this year then how will they work out what I get as I won’t be working in my quaifying weeks. Will this be based on my old band 5 wage or my new band 6 salary.

Very complicated. I feel such a burden and reluctant to contact my new manager until I’m 12 weeks but I just want to get my head around what’s going to happen.

Thank you in advance 😀

I’m in the same scenario, currently 9 weeks pregnant and on maternity leave but will need to go back by august. I’m due in October but I’ve read maternity leave can overlap and don’t need to go back to work. maternityaction.org.uk/advice/pregnant-during-maternity-leave/
I will try to email HR about it 🙂
